Perfect Proportions
I bought the red version from Amazon Warehouse (Like New). The box had been opened before but the bike was not put together before. The number plate was missing a screw and the sticker on the front was scratched and ripped. Not a huge deal. The bike went together easily however some things needed adjusted. The steering tube had a notchy feeling so I backed off the top nut a half turn and that fixed the issue. The chain and rear wheel (pre-assembled) were also very tight but I was able to loosen that up a bit. The rest of the assembly was simple and I didn't need the manual (it's a bicycle, not a rocket engine). As for the ergonomics and the SmartStart system, I think it's fantastic. This bicycle looks like it was made for a child's body. It's not all scrunched up like most children's bikes and the proportions are perfect for my son. Really impressed. My son is 42" tall and has an inseam of ~17 inches. The 14" bike is perfect for him AND he has room to grow. He's able to put his tippy toes down which gives him confidence and he still has enough room to comfortable pedal. VERY happy with the purchase. This is the perfect child's pedal bike and the price is likely the best on the market.HIGHLY recommended.

18" Great bike for my 5 year old!
We were in the trenches with the first two kids and bought used and cheap bikes. But for the 3rd kid it's nothing but the best! ;) He started on a Strider and then a 14" RoyalBaby brand bike (LOVED that bike for an early learner/Strider transition bike at 3!!!) He is 5 now and needed something bigger and it was a debate between a bigger RoyalBaby or this Schwinn. I read reviews for both and decided to take a chance on this one. We've only had it for two days but so far so good. My husband put it together but it was pretty easy. He didn't even look for directions until it came time to get the handlebars on and had a question. Docking one star due to it not coming with an allen wrench and we couldn't find ours at the time. So that was a tad inconvenient. Assembly took about 20 minutes max.Pros: 18" Great size for my average size 5 year old. Debated between the 16" and 18" and went with the 18" and glad we did! The handlebars will also raise up to continue to grow with my child and the seat raising!Caliper handlebar brakes AND coaster brake!Kickstand! Not all that come with training wheels have this and since we don't need the training wheels, I was happy to see we didn't need to buy an additional kickstand.Feels sturdy. Nice weight- not too heavy in bike standards and not too cheap feeling.Cons: No allen wrench included for convenient assembly. Kickstand is very hard for my 5 year old get in position, though I'm not sure that's a con for the bike or just my child's age/ability.I will update this review if any of these thoughts change, but so far so good! My son HAD to have a blue bike and I'm glad we went straight from a 14" to this 18" model as he can handle it well now and it will continue to grow with him. He's been riding it two days straight!

Disappointed. Broken beyond repair.
This bike is adorable, but as it broke after maybe half a dozen uses, I cannot recommend it.My husband assembled it. It wasn't terribly difficult, but took a bit more time than we thought it should have. After three uses, the peddles were lose. What?! We tightened them back up and made sure everything else was still secure so our five-year old didn't take a tumble because something came apart. A ride or two after that, a piece fell off as she was riding and into the inside of the chain area. I don't even know how to describe what happened. It looks like the chain slipped, but there's a piece that's missing that's now irretrievable.I'm seriously disappointed by this. I thought by buying a Schwinn we could avoid issues just like this. Guess not. And I can't seem to find a way to either return or exchange the bike, which is really upsetting as it's unusable.

Beautiful Bike
Number plate looked cheap and creased so I removed it. Pretty easy assembly. For some reason I was under the impression the 18” with training wheels did not come with kick stand, but it does. I purchased an 18” for my 4 year old for his 5th birthday. He’s pretty tall at 44 1/2” so I figured the 18” would be a good size for him to grow into. The bike is smaller than I expected but he’ll be able to ride it comfortably. I hope it brings my son a lot of happiness for the next couple of years.

Good bike, good value
Fabulous bike! The assembly was pretty easy if you didn’t try to follow the directions! Took us about 20 minutes. Everything arrived in good condition with no damage as some of the previous reviews had. We ordered the pink and the color is very vibrant. The 16” is perfect for our tall 4 year old. She is about 4’. It does have a lot of growing room too with the seat almost all the way down on the lowest setting. Easy to pedal and brakes on the pedals and the handle. We added a bell and streamers for some whimsy that the bike lacked by itself. It is much better quality than the cheap big box bikes with the Disney characters but a lot less expensive than the local bike shop.

Not worth the cost, returned for refund
I would think this bike was better quality than the local value store but i was mistaken. Assembly was easy for anyone with any mechanical know how. However the quality of the hubs, bearings or anything that rotated for that matter were horrible. My 4 year old daughter had to strain to ride this thing on a flat hard surface. I did everything i could (except disassemble the hubs) with no improvements. This thing would roll to a stop going downhill! Horrible workmanship. The brakes are probably worth $2 total! Horrible quality, absolutely subpar for what i would want to trust to keep my baby safe.Returning for a refund and will get something that actually rolls!

Breaks for the rear wheel don't work. No clamp to adjust seat height. Would return if possible.
This was supplied by Amazon Warehouse. The brakes for the rear wheel doesn't work. The light for the front of the bike could not be assembled.I even took the bike to my local bike shop and paid them to re assemble this. Despite spending £40, even they were unable to fix the brakes for the rear wheel! No mechanism to adjust the seat height. Instructions on the manual to adjust the seat does not match with the hardware. No clamp to keep the seat in place despite being in the instructions as per the manual. The manual which came with the bike is not user friendly and very difficult to follow. It is a nightmare for us to return, otherwise would have done it already. Won't let my child ride the bike, since we are unsure about the safety.

It does come with stabilizers and kickstand!
One of things that stood out reading the reviews was that the bike is not supplied with stabilizers or kickstand. My package has just been delivered and I can assure you that there are stabilizers, kickstand, chanin guard, basket and a bell. 18 inch wheels - UK

Good bike with some defects
The bike is beautiful. It's a bit heavy, but on average for the price. There are some defects as the brake wires cut here and there and the annoying thing for us was the broken bell. This bit was disappointing, that's the reason why we gave 3 stars instead of 4. We are overall satisfied, and the bike is a good size for our 3 years old. We spent 1 hour and a half building it, but the instructions were clear.

Brakes are concerning, so returned
Assembly was pretty straight forward however noticed that horse shoe brakes only mounted on single point and this led to them tilting too far to the left or right, despite tightening the securing nut/bolt.This led to the brakes not always functioning and that was concerning enough to return.Went and grabbed a similar style bike from Halfords instead with better brakes.

Poor quality
This is a nightmare to assemble. Small bolts that are impossible to tighten. The decals are stickers that, given they way they have been slapped on I would've preffered my 6 year old to apply them. The basket is cheap plastic that is badly marked and when you tighten the screws that hold it on make it slip sideways. If you don't tighten the screws then it sounds like you are riding with a loose bolts in the basket.Scratched front decal. The assembly instructions appear to be for a different model as there are no instructions on how to attach the basket and the instructions for attaching the front 'fender' are for a different fender.Sending this back
