Beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium 600 ohm - All Black Manufaktur Edition Over-Ear Headphones

These are great. They must be the lightest headphones I've ever owned that can back that up with A+ grade audio quality. They are even lighter than the DT880 600ohms. I don't know why the other reviews aren't good. I had been using the DT880's for a few years and decided I wanted to upgrade. YOU MUST Get a high quality headphone pre-amp for the best experience. These are HIGH grade headphones and 600 ohms won't be any different than 250 unless you have the proper audio hardware (HI-FI Studio System). If you don't plan on using these with a pre-amp in a studio / recording music / HI-FI system usage, and plan on using them for PC, ipod, ipad, TV etc... don't expect these to somehow make lower quality audio better. in an ipod for example, they will work.. fine but no different than the 250ohm or less versions.ALSO:I asked the seller to provide me product authentication. Rest assured these are the real-deal, However, they do not ship with a manual. You have to use the online manual.

I highly doubt this is a new item. The box was a little damaged and had no seals. The headset was a little dusty as well. none the less, it's a fantastic product. I pair this with a fiio e17k/k5 combo and it works flawlessly. you definitely need an amp to power this bad boy up.

At the time of purchase, the all black dt990 was the same price as the regular 600 ohm version... With that said, everything on the forums that I've read say that the black pads have a little more bass with a little less comfort than the standard grey pads and I wanted that extra bass. Also, it looks so much cooler in all black.edit: after looking at the other person review i realize they were right ... i didnt take the pads apart but the ohm listing on the plug isn't there and after looking at another review, i noticed the booklet wasn't included either.i have returned these and purchased the limited edition 600 ohm chrome version to replace it - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074KJS1G3/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

At first I though these were fake. I noticed a few small details that were missing when comparing with a non Manufaktur set. So I decided to contact Beyerdrynamic to ask if they can confirm if these were real since the model number on the box was for the 250ohm set. Then they stopped responding to my emails when asking if it were possible that they cut corners to bring the cost down. Beyerdynamic were one of my favorite brands. Really disappointed.So here is what I found:The cable jack doesn't have the impedance printed on it.The serial number is missing from both inner ear pad lips.The grill feels like its made out of plastic.The felt ring pad is missing from behind the driver.Pictures attached.

Love these headphones! They look so much better than the standard premium gray version. They should have made the headphones like this to begin with.
