Numerical Methods with Matlab: an Introduction with Applications Using MATLAB

Great Introduction with examples
This is an excellent text for an introduction to numerical methods with MatLab. The text provided many examples that were applicable to a wide range of scenarios. I highly recommend this as a first text in numerical methods and is a great resource for learning to solve engineering problems with matlab.

the second of two foundational texts for any Numerical Methods library
This book is one of two that I consistently turn to for the answers that I need... The other being; Numerical Methods for Engineers, 4th or 5th ed. by Steven C. Chapra and Raymond P. Canale; as the first book in the sequence... I have used both of these books for self study, and can only say that the authors truly love their subject, and love to teach it... They take a seriously detailed journey through the subject matter, and haven't forgotten to invite you along for the fun... I especially like the fully worked out examples and MATLAB coding, even though I do not have a copy of MATLAB, but use SciLab, and it's built-in code converter, running on Linux...

Best book for Numerical Methods using MATLAB!
Used for a graduate course in numerical methods. Of the three books I purchased, this one was by far the most helpful. The concepts are thoroughly and clearly explained, and the MATLAB examples are easy to read. The only thing it lacks is a partial differential equations chapter. Must have for any numerical methods course. Thanks Gilat and Subramaniam.

Typical Book, a few errors / typos. For OSU Students
If you take ME250 @ OSU this is one of the two books you have to buy. There are slightly more errors than usual and if you ever get stuck / get really strange results I would look over the problems / statements because it is possible something is wrong that Gilat forgot to mention. It does explain the concepts with examples fairly well. Gilat's lectures are a little unclear at times and this book helps alot. There are often programs and hand-calculated examples, which I find very helpful. The problems can be a little wordy / slightly unclear in the homework problems so writing out what you are solving for may be helpful.Overall it is a pretty good book due to the examples and worked out problems.

SAAD ESSA, TURKEY
This book is very useful for understanding the basic of numerical methods and coding them by using MATLAB.If you are student in undergraduate level and you want to develop yourself, then you could buy this book.In addition, it is a good book for instructors to use throughout the teaching as well as textbook. Thanks
