Q: How big are the cones of thread? Will they work well on a commercial embroidery machine? I've used Madeira in the past.

They are mini spools/cones. Work well with smaller machines. You might prefer king cones.

Q: Does this embroidery thread numbers match up with the color mumbers on my embroidery cards?

Probably not. My embroidery machine has a place in settings to change what kind of embroidery thread you are using. This is excellent thread.
