Your average, run-of-the-mill guide...
The first Time Out guide I purchased, I actually ended up in places that did not have droves of folks in their 50s waving Lonely Planet guides around, looking as if it was their first time outside their home country. Truly, I don't mean to belittle them... in fact, I admire anyone who steps out of their comfort zone. BUT the point of buying this seemingly edgy, trendy guide was to go off the beaten track, given there are always going to be sights/clubs/things in cities world wide that are universal, and (if one lives in a large enough city) one does not need to travel out of your own city to experience them; the whole point was to find out what makes the new city just that much quirkier or different than your own. Sadly, this book did not accomplish that. The restaurant recommendations were bleh 80% of the time, shopping recommendations were clearly skewed towards boutiques that seemed to have the money to advertise with them (and fairly stodgy stuff as well), and there were no great insights provided that one could not gather from any other guide, or from reading a few travelers' blogs. Buy it if you don't like to leave home without a guide, but don't kid yourself that it's better than the others out there.

A very appropriate guide for a very happening city!
The Time Out series is really appropriate for certain destinations, and Buenos Aires is definitely one of them - why? Because T.O. keeps the sightseeing & history to a compact section. They focus on the real charm of BA - its lifestyle - food, wine, tango, an obscenely and wonderfully late club culture, futbol and so forth. I was really pleased with the recommendations (I never use these guides for hotels anyhow). The book is colorful, the maps & practical information are decent, and most of all its a travel guide that isn't completely "dry", but fairly witty and engaging. All in all for a city like BA, the Time Out series is exactly what you'll need to have a great time. - one point for the fact that they sell advertising throughout the guide. I just don't accept that in a book I am buying!

Full of useful information
We went on a recent trip to Buenos Aires and this updated Time Out was very helpful. The accommodations and restaurant recommendations were spot on. However, we still can't figure out why all the guidebooks recommend a visit to Tigre. It was definitely something to do, but not very interesting.

Best regards, Ricardo Marcondes
Time Out guides are excelente. The only problem is that you do not inform the year itwas published. The one I bought was in 2012, so it is a little outdated.Best regards,Ricardo Marcondes.

good value
Lots of useful information with contacts and directions. Good for a week long visit. Not too much background and history though.

Must-have guide
This is a must-have guide: Always updated for the current year. Has the scoop on events large and small; from tango clubs to museums to local eateries. BsAs is not always easy to navigate without this (been there twice).

This book has great information, but I felt like I had to wade through it a bit to find what I was interested in.

TimeOut is my favorite city guide!
I love the TimeOut series, and the one for Buenos Aires is very good. I lived in Buenos Aires, and I can say that this does a good job identifying restaurants, bars, things to do, etc.

I found this guide book very useful in finding my way around the Argentinian capital. It was extremely informative about the outstanding sights in this city.

very useful book to have
I chose this range because I like the layout of information of which there is plenty. It's also easy to read and refer to at all times.

My guide of Choice
It does not hav all of the hotels but an interesting selection of Restaurants. If its maps were as good as in the Michelin Red Guide it would be perfect
