Q: It looks like it doesn't wrap around the whole part of the leg or knee just partially is that right ?

Without being rude it really depends on how big your leg is. I have chubby knees but it will wrap round to sides of knee and Velcro elastic will go right round. I find it does what I need on my knees and my back if I need to ice pack it opens out flat so good. I hope this helps.
