These really soak it up!
These have realjy saved my sanity!I have used & re-used the entire box a couple of times already while waiting for a leaky faucet to be repaired in my laundry room. I have to do the laundry so I turn the faycet off when not running the machine but still have to deal with the leak while it's running.Right out of the box they have a very strong mildew odor. After using them & letting them drip dry outside, the odor is gone. The seam on the tubes is not sewn, it's pressed or possibly glued shut but the seam on one tube was split open about half the length of the tube. I didn't notice it until I had used it & I picked it up to put out for drying. What a mess! (This & the initial odor are the only reasons I didn't give a 5 star review.) Be sure to check those seams before use!

From great to ok.
I purchased these absorbent socks several times. The socks in my previous orders were great. They looked and felt flimsy, but they absorbed and held lots of water. I would then spin them in the washing machine to get the bulk water out, air dry them and reuse multiple times. After several uses, however, they began to get stiffer and less absorbent (which I fully expected) so I decided to re-order when I was down to my last few.The new batch I got in my last order was altogether different. Upon opening the box I found they had a new more robust looking and feeling sock material, and they felt a bit denser and more substantial than the previous. I assumed, then, that they somehow improved on an already great product. After the first use, however, I realized...not so much. They DO still absorb a ton of water. However, these new socks now allow the silicone material inside to leech out. This poses two problems: 1) they are messy to handle and leave some of that silicone material behind on the floor, and 2) I can no longer put them into the washer to spin out some of the bulk water to help them dry out quicker. You can see in my photos the difference between socks before and after water absorption (previous version on left, new version on right). These would have gotten the full 5 stars if I had written my review a month ago. But with this new version, I’ve got to knock it down. The last thing you want when trying to keep your basement dry in an all day downpour is to have that job get messier and more expensive.

Hurrican Zone Necessity
I live in Florida on the beach. I was placing rolled up towels in the sliding door channel. In a heavy storm the water comes in but does not give the channel water time to go through the weep holes. I now place these in the tracks (channels) and I never have to worry about water overflowing. Everyone in my condo has been ordering these because they work. During the last storm I gave out a few and they work.

These do not work
We purchased these to put in our utility room in case of any leaks, well a leak happened and these did nothing to stop the water from damaging carpet and cabinets on the other side of the wall. Lots of water damage and what we thought would protect us did not - don’t waste your money like we did.
