TOMORROWLAND, the title of Ryan Bingham's new album, sounds futuristic, but the Oscar-winning singer/songwriter hints, "Maybe it's not so much about looking ahead as it is about leaving things behind." the album contains plenty of the pliant acoustic guitar work that has marked Bingham's previous studio sets, but TOMORROWLAND expands his musical landscape exponentially; guitars howl into keyboards and drums stomp again strings, all bolstered by Bingham's jagged, weather-beaten vocals. Review: Another Materpiece From A Legend In The Making - I have been a fan of Ryan since Mescalito. I was the one who told all of my friends that this kid would go far long before he wore a tux and accepted an Oscar for Crazy Heart. Then T-Bone Burnett entered the picture to produce Junky Star, which only had about 4 good songs on it. I have always hated the production efforts of T-Bone and thought that he was highly over-rated, in fact ruining otherwise good songs (I would NEVER let him touch my own material!!!). Now Ryan has self-produced this new brilliant masterpiece. As for the negative reviews that just don't get it, they must all be die-hard country fans who absolutely hate rock. Having been a rocker all of my life and then finally getting off my high horse to check out some good country concerts, this reminds me of shows like Lonestar, Tanya Tucker, and Collin Raye whereby when they perform their rock influences, the die-hard country fans get up and leave in droves. Same Here! Now that Ryan is showing his Led Zeppelin and U2 influences, lots of folks have already written it off without giving it a fair shake. Make no misktake - THIS IS A ROCK RECORD, so if that ticks you country fans off, save your money and negative reviews! Every song is just great, even if Rising From The Ghetto can give anyone the chills. That happens to be my least favorite song on this one, but I do respect Ryan's desire to portray his message. Hopefully, the ghetto kids won't believe this one! Review: Solid! I don't care what these other people are saying. - Ryan Bingham has dropped The Dead Horses, but has replaced them with some good studio pro's in, Richard Bowden on fiddle, who has worked with many artists for over 40 plus years, guitarist Greg Leisz who has worked on Matthew Sweet, Sheryl Crow and a dozen more artists, Keith Ciancia on keyboards and Matt Sherrod on drums andShawn Davis on bass. What a great album opener in "Beg For Broken Legs", great Led Zeppelin sounding song with some great string work, this should be heard on country radio to spice up the mother f....... country charts! The nerve rattling "Guess Who's Knocking", the great first single release "Heart Of Rhythm", the 8 minute "Rising Of The Ghetto", some very good lyrics here, "Keep It Together", the beautiful "Never Far Behind", the rockabilly sound of "The Road I'm On" and the acoustic show stopper "Too Deep To Fill". "Flower Bomb", would of fit perfectly on "Junky Star". 31 year-old Ryan Bingham keeps it going. People you have to give this more than one listen, great stuff!

Solid! I don't care what these other people are saying.

Enjoyable Country Rock Music By Ryan Bingham.
Ryan Bingham has released quite an enjoyable CD titled 'Tomorrowland'. A combination of his raspy voice described as jagged weather beaten vocals, great compositions & production. The result is an enjoyable country rock album with some alternative rock sound as in "Guess Who's Knockin'", "Heart Of Rhythm" & the great "I Heard 'Em Say". Stand-outs/gems/solid tracks include "Western Shore" (wonderful country rock, voice & sound reminiscent of Canadian rocker Tom Cochrane), "Flower Bomb", "No Help From God" (slow-tempo track, beautiful melody & vocals. I love the violin sound on this track) & "Never Ending Show". Great tracks include the opening track "Beg For Broken Legs", the rocky "I Heard 'Em Say" & the over 8 minute long track "Rising Of The Ghetto" (slow-tempo, mellow track with great melody & vocals). On overall, country rock singer songwriter Ryan Bingham delivers enjoyable music in this new CD release 'Tomorrowland', a recommended CD listening.

Still a good record.
"Tomorrowland" is no "Mescalito", of that we are all sure. But it is a pretty good record with plenty of good songs. There is some Zeppelin here, not a bad thing. Some is closer to the old Ryan Bingham we were expecting. I don't know, considering the state of all things musical I don't even resent the picture of Ryan trying to appeal to Ray Lamontagne fans. I have no problem with Mr. Lamontagne by the way. There is some grandiosity in two or three of the songs, maybe a little out of place, maybe with a couple more listenings... I guess that R. B has had hundreds of people in the business telling him the way to go, that he would be the new "whoever" and all that and he is looking for the "real me". To my taste, that real R. B was in "Mescalito" but a singer can't be stuck in his first steps. This is a good record.

Next Step
After my first listen it was clear that Ryan Bingham headed in a very different direction with this album. The gritty Texas country sound gave way to a gritty rock sound. Artists evolve and try new things. Unfortunately, the "die-hard" fans who were there from the beginning get offended by this and swear off the new stuff. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and if a throwback fan doesn't like the new stuff, well that's their right. However, it's the indignation they show that frustrates me, and what right do they have to that? Especially when "Tomorrowland" is an incredible album from beginning to end. The songs, the sound, the energy, it's all an incredible listening experience. I've only been a fan of Bingham for about two or three years (yes, that coincides with "Crazy Heart"), but I think this might be his best album to date. I'm sure that statement won't make the old fans very happy.

Good effort, but lacks
I have loved Ryan Bingham since the moment I first heard Southside of Heaven. I have been pleased with all of his efforts up to this point. This album definitely shows a Ryan Bingham who is evolving as an artist, and whether or not people like the direction is a matter of opinion. I enjoyed some parts of this album, but overall felt it was lacking. It strikes me as a somewhat noisy, misguided effort. I'm not sure if I like him without the Dead Horses, because I felt they pushed him to be better. Worth a listen, but overall not his best work.

Ähnlich auch das gut acht Minuten lange Rising Of The Ghetto. Weitere Highlights auf dieser CD: Flower Bomb Heart Of Rhythm No Help From God Keep It Together Never Far Behind The Road I'm On Never Ending Show Too Deep To Fill Hier noch das Linup - auch für alle, die seine Begleitband der ersten drei Meisterwerke, The Dead Horses, vermissen. So dünn ist die Besetzung nicht. Line-up: Ryan Bingham (vocals, guitar) Justin Stanley (guitar, bass, drums, mellotron, piano) Greg Leisz (guitar, mandolin) Keith Ciancia (keyboards) Richard Bowden (fiddle) Shawn Davis (bass) Matt Sharrod (drums)
