Mario Camacho Foods Marashino Cherries, 10 Ounce (Pack of 12)

My daughter watches those cooking shows all the time and one day she told me that we have to buy some capers. I'd never heard of capers as an edible noun. It made me think of the old Batman tv series. But I dutifully typed it into Amazon's search field -- and lo and behold there they were. I thought they looked a little like tiny olives.So we've been cooking with them now for about 2 years. They are preserved like pickles or olives but their flavor is different. It's a strong flavor and you don't want a lot of them in your recipe.I like to put them in cold, mayo-based salads like chicken it tuna salad, potato or egg salad as well as using them to add some brightness to blander casserole dishes. They're good in green salads as well.I can't compare these to any other brands of capers because we liked these so much that we just have Amazon send us a package if them every 3-4 months.

Great price compared to most grocery stores, I was looking for a large jar but the six 3.5oz jars work great, plus they're glass so I save them for crafts! They make delicious chicken piccata and I've been known to eat them straight out of the jar! Highly recommend.

I'm familiar with Mario Camacho olives, but hadn't tried their cocktail onions until I bought these. These are very small jars, which I didn't notice until they arrived, but they are very good quality. They're crispy and crunchy and have just the right amount of vinegar and salt in the brine. The onions themselves are small, like what you'd put in a martini, not the bigger ones you sometimes see in salad bars.If it hadn't been for Amazon's free Supersaver shipping I probably wouldn't have purchased these, but 12 little jars will last us a long time. And they are shelf stable so we don't have to rush to eat them before they expire.

Our family has a calendar full of summer events and I have many summertime recipes that call for maraschino cherries. Since finding them at my local store is “hit or miss” I bought a case of these. Very happy with the size of the cherries and thequality of them.

Expensive

These capers are wonderful, and I really appreciated the six separate jars that I can open and use one at a time, v worrying about a massively large box store jar that takes over a year to exhaust. While I know I paid a little more for this convenience, it's a far better option -- and less wasteful -- than dealing with a large jar that grows rancid with time.

Ordered a case on Dec 17th and have not received it yet! This is Feb. 16th. Love these onions they have a great taste. WHY so long on delivery It is now March 4 and still no onions!!!
