. Perfect for my wagon as solo-camper!
I reported shattered and broken pole which punched a hole on the awning. It's been a great product but I’m glad warranty exist and getting a new set! Thank you Napier!Update:2022. 7 months - pole shattered on one section and another section broke during a gusty evening. I would have been okay with that as I can look for a replacement. However it tore part of the awning where the pole goes through. Now it’s concerning me whether the product will hold long. I was pleased with the build and material but I’m a bit sceptical now. I love the product tho. Dear Napier: Help. Photos attachedI purchased model 61000 its the smallest that would fit our Audi A4 Allroad. This also fits well on our 2018 Hyundai Tucson. As far as fitting- one person can set it up in about 5-7mins. it slips onto the hatch door, attached onto the roof rack (if you don’t have a roof rack- they provide extensions to hook onto front mirrors.) Additional buckles secures onto the wheelwell, but I hook it up on my rear wheels instead. At this price, it is a whole lot cheaper than a RTT. However you only have the space that your car, in this case the audi Allroad, can provide - usually good for solo campers, a pinch for two. So of course an RTT would provide a better room to sleep for two or more(?). There are minimal gaps on the side and on top where the hatch and the rear roof meets. (See last couple of photos- The gap is not that bad since the actual material extends forward where it’s hooked up to the roof rack rails). Masking tape may help provide more “seal” but its truly not bad. It was a cold night when I had a trial (and wind advisory) but it held up well and provided shield from the cold air. You cannot turn on the engine to heat up the car as the bottom part of the attachment covers the exhaust. However, it doesn’t mean modifications could not be made to allow engine running while this is on. Having said that, I have a portable stove/ heater that sits in the back if I need a little bit of warmth (also have a 200w mini electric heater i use sometimes). With this tent on, it allows me to sit up at the back end of the cargo area and have privacy from the elements. I’m only 5’10” so it works well for me. Quality I have to say is excellent, good materials , good zippers. It does have a built in bug-screen along with the solid flap to shield from the weather. I am looking forward on my next camp out (when there’s no wind advisory whipping up 60mph gusts. Lol) This would be perfect this summer!

Solid tent attachment for car camping
Great fit on my 2012 Subaru Impreza Sport. Easy to put up even with one person. Seems to have quality materials and everything lines up and connects as it should. Sleeping in the car in comfort is now possible with the extra foot of leg room that this tent attachment provides. There are a couple of small gaps on the sides of the vehicle body and on the roof where the tent doesn’t make a very tight seal. We camped in this for 3 days and didn’t get any mosquitos in the car, however it’s definitely something I’d be concerned about enough to get some magnets to make sure the tent attachment “hugs” the car a little better, which I think would solve the problem. It also could use some more durable inner material on certain points where the hatch corners could potentially pierce the tent. Again, a few little pieces of cardboard are an easy fix but it would be nice to see this addressed in the design.Overall, a great purchase if you’re interested in car camping or even just tailgating! Would buy again.

Love this tent!!
I am not really into camping but my husband is. He sleeps hardcore, in a hammock at night with a tarp. I get cold and scared lol. So I bought this on a whim, and he set it up for me (took maybe 3 mins), and lemme tell ya - I am obsessed. We’ve gone camping 3 times in the last month because I am enjoying it much more now! It has good air flow and the car is so much darker than a tent, so I sleep in till 9:30 in here. I love everything about it except the tiny bag it came in - you can see in one of the photos that it’s just thrown in the back lol. I got a “human dog bed” for the car as well and some small fairy lights to make it cozier. I am afraid of everything but feel so safe and secure in this tent. I couldn’t be more pleased! It is a great price for the quality and doesn’t really have to be aired out after using it because it doesn’t touch the ground.

Well constructed and performs as advertised
If you’ve set up tents, this tent-like alcove sets up/breaks down easily in under five minutes and it gives a nice big entry point to the SUV. Line it up to the car, fit it over the open hatch, hook to wheel wells/buckle it in place on the roof, slide/attach the single pole at the back and stake the two stakes: boom, done. In the past, I’ve also used a larger SUV tent by Napier, and their products seem consistently well designed and well constructed.I currently have a 2015 Subaru Outback and the smaller size of this product fits it perfectly. The sleeve fits so well that so far, no bugs have made it inside (and we have tons of mosquitoes here). I’m going to add a bit of info about camping with the Outback, in case anyone is curious about my setup. I also bought mesh covers for the rear windows and a tiny camping fan for more air circulation, but this rear alcove has a mesh section you can zip open to as well. I have a Teton XL camping pad and an oversized Coleman sleeping bag that fit perfectly inside the Outback for a nice night’ rest. This alcove gives some nice headspace inside the car and a tiny awning area outside (it is a tiny covered space - if you’re camping in rain for any length of time you’d also want an additional shelter of some kind for just hanging out or cooking).Car camping with this alcove isn’t as roomy as a teardrop camper, but for a quick overnight stay it’s pretty great. For longer trips, adding a camp kitchen/outdoor shelter next to the car would be easy.

Beach day
This ‘cove’ is perfect. Took me about 15 minutes to set up. Made well. Excellent for tailgating at the beach. Haven’t tried a ‘sleep over’ in it yet but the zippered in screen & privacy is nice feature. The day I used it, had 4 different ppl stop and compliment it. One person got on her phone and ordered it right then & there!!Note* I had my hatch opened to its fullest height. So if you have that option open to the highest.
