I wasn’t stoked about how expensive these things are, but the quality is really nice and I am getting the speeds I want, so it is worth it. Very easy to use. I have it connected to my Mac Studio for additional storage and it has works beautifully and is significantly cheaper than paying Apple’s outrageous internal storage upgrade prices.

after watching a youtube video on how to build a super fast external hard drive thats small, i bought this and i am not disappointed. constantly getting 2800mb speeds. three times my sandisk extreme ssd. love it!

Using this with Crucial P3 Plus 4TB. Formatted APFS with my Macbook and speed reaching 2200+ MB/s (limited by Thunderbolt).Transferred 45GB file in 17 seconds!Cheaper than Samsung X5 2TB (There's not even a 4TB version on X5). Also the cache handling is excellent.It gets warm but not hot. Also of course, the sturdiness is better with X5.

I have the old version of this Thunderbolt + USB4 compatible enclosure and it performs like a champ with my M1 Mac... which led me to buy it again...NEWS FLASH!!!!I tried this enclosure with multiple NVMEs and they ALL failed to perform reliably in this newer enclosure for my M1 Mac, while I replaced the NVME in the older enclosure, and it performs without batting an eye.If I didn't know any better, i'd SWEAR that once they gained a little popularity at Trebleet, they just started having it manufactured with GARBAGE quality control or testing, by a cheap manufacturing company.Amazon is sending a replacement. Let's see how it performs.

Bought this enclosure based on several YouTube videos. Put in a Samsung SSD 970 EVO 2TB to make a fast external SSD that is faster than the premade 2TB external SSD's I have. Took less than 10 minutes to put the SSD in the enclosure, apply the heat sink, reassemble and format on my Mac.

I have about 6 NVME drives and I could not get any of them to work in TB4 mode. Several are name brand top tier drives. I gave up and tossed it in the junk drawer, just in case I end up with a rare, but compatible drive down the road.RECOMMENDATIONI would not play around with this level of incompatibility for anything important it is not worth the risk. This time the device passed all my test, and mostly with flying colors. With the right cable and drive, I was achieving more than 3100MB/s READ and 1100MB/s WRITE speeds. It did take some experimenting with different cables and drives to get consistent optimal speeds. CABLE A would only have 500MB/s Write, while CABLE B would have 1100MB/s WRITE. DRIVE A would give 1000MB/s WRITE, while DRIVE B would give 300MB/s WRITE. But once I switched to a certified cable, at least the read speeds were always consistent with all drives I tested.RECOMMENDATION:I modify my previous recommendation to a cautious recommend as long as you get a certified cable to go along with it.

So this enclosure is decent as long as it is in USB 3 mode. When I plugged it into a Thunderbolt 3/ USB4 port, the write speeds become absolutely trash. The same drive that can do over 1000MB/s in USB 3.2 mode, can barely manage 600 MB/s in USB4/Thunderbolt port. Read speeds are really good, but I don't know what is going on with the write speeds at all. I have attached pictures to this review that describe this.I did fully open this enclosure up and look at what controllers they are using. Two controllers are present - An Intel Thunderbolt 3 controller, and an ASMedia USB 3.2 10Gbps controller. So this enclosure is *NOT* USB4, it is Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.2 Gen 2. Kind of false advertising on this count.I have tested this on multiple computers, multiple SSDs, and multiple cables. All with the same result.Do not get this enclosure expecting flawless compatibility or blazing fast speeds unless your setup is exactly what the enclosure wants.
