Tolkien Fans Should Love this Resource Even if They Don't Care About the RPG
I’ve never played the LOTR RP but I have read the books (along with most of Tolkien for that matter) and adored the Peter Jackson film. I picked up the “Fellowship of the Ring Sourcebook” on a whim from a local comic shop and am glad to have done so. This book offers interesting profiles on the leading characters from both the books and the movies while ignoring debates about which was better. When the books and movies head in different directions with a character--Arwen for example--the sourcebook presents both versions. The sourcebook also includes characters who are only in the books (Tom Bombadil for example) or just the films (Lurtz). There are also looks at some of the key locations from “Fellowship of the Ring” with excellent maps and even a few potential RP ideas. The sourcebook is wonderfully illustrated with images from the films. Best of all, this book can be treasured by Tolkien fans who have no interest in the RP. Highly recommended for readers who want to linger longer in Middle Earth.

The Fellowship Sourcebook
This book mostly outlines the timeline of both Peter Jacksons' films and the trilogy from J.R.R. Tolkien, and spells it all out in plain english. There's also a lot of good information on *each* of the major characters from the books and film, and the differences between each. In the "Places" chapter it outlines major places of note, and gives some maps and adventure hooks as well. All in all I am very happy with it; but it *is* just a sourcebook, it doesn't have much actual DM stuff in it for the game. Just a good reference book.
