Not yet in compatibility list of Synology NAS
Purchased 5 Exos X18/14TB for personal NAS Synology DS418, as upgrade from older 4TB Seagate drives.4 for NAS, one as spare.Disks are ST14000NM000J, received with SN01 firmware. Checked serial numbers on Seagate: warranty valid until 27 March 2028.Upgraded firmware to SN04 (quite difficult to find, only by command line), with HDD connected to Win11 PC with USB3/SATA adapter and external power supply.Replaced disks one-by-one on Synology DS418 and wait for "RAID repair" - which take about 1 day for each replacement.DS418 prompted that new HDD are not in compatibility list, but repair process was smooth, the NAS is working OK.The data transfer is limited by 1Gbps LAN, copying one large file at 113MBps, both directions.HDD noise is as expected, heads movement can be heard (NAS is in my bedroom), but not very annoying.I use the NAS as Btrfs RAID storage for my family precious photos/videos, not needed for super-speed data transfer or enterprise sharing.Disks were delivered sealed in electrostatic bags, with thick foam padding, all in one carton box.Satisfied with my purchase.
