ENCASULATE? Ugh! I would die inside if I published this book! First line of the first chapter and there’s a spelling error???? What a shame. I’ll have to try to get over it and keep reading but not a good first impression of the text portion.

This Japandi book is wonderful with lots of Instagram pictures and not much text. The compositions of the photography are splendid though I wish the paper quality was glossy not mat, because it is difficult to see the details. Other reviewers claim that this style is bland but I find it clean, clutter free and soothing, though every object must be placed just right or the balance would be off causing a jumpiness in an overstimulated world.

I felt rather a disappointment; not exactly what I expected.

As a long time fan of Japanese style architecture and also a fan of Scandinavian style, I was excited to get this book. But for my taste, this material is overly bland. All the rooms are the same colorless tones and cold. I know that both of these styles are understated and simplistic, but these authors miss the opportunities to show how visual "punch" can be added even with muted palettes. There are better Japandi books available.
