Works for me!
Bought a floorstanding twin light pedestal thingie. Added dimmable bulbs and then this plug-in dimmer a couple of weeks ago. I just switched it all on, toned it down to a nice ambient level and it's worked perfectly ever since

Simple, smooth, and reliable—this plug-in dimmer adds light control without rewiring or fuss.
Plug-and-play simplicity. This dimmer switch slots straight into a standard UK socket and gives smooth control over lamp brightness—ideal for filament bulbs and compatible LEDs. No buzzing, no flicker, and the dial’s responsive without being twitchy. Used it with a few table lamps and it handled them well. Build feels solid, and the white finish blends in without drawing attention. Great for setting mood lighting or just knocking the brightness down in the evenings. No wiring, no faff—just works.

Very good, but a little fragile
I have had three of these. They are great and do the job well when they are working. The only problem I have found is that they are a little too delicate electronically and are vulnerable to electrical surges. The first unit I received was faulty on arrival and was kindly replaced by the seller. That second unit was working well until, by mistake, I momentarily plugged a laptop into the 4-way socket board which I only intended to be powering a couple of room lights from. After this, it would only reach about half brightness. I then ordered a third unit which worked fine for about 12 months until one of the two bulbs it was powering blew. This damaged the dimmer switch and it died completely. I would give these dimmer switches 5 stars if they had some sort of self-resetting overload protection built into them, but as they stand, they are very good, but a little fragile. P.S. These units DO have a CE sticker on the back.

It doesn't really work
A dimmer switch you plug into the wall socket and then plug your lamp into it. Less than £10! Too good to be true? Yes because it doesn't well. My lamp has halogen bulbs so maybe that's the reason- if it is it would be useful to be told that. Anyway, you dim the light about a quarter of the way on the dial - it makes a little difference but then the light just cuts out. I think this is not a universal dimmer solution - it may work on some lights (judging by other reviews) but it doesn't on mine. So you can take your chances: if it works it is a bargain but if it doesn't it's a waste of money. Too many non/obscurely branded items on Amazon may or may not work and have contradictory reviews so you are taking a chance. Not really good enough.

Great value
Perfect for a table lamp, used as a bedroom side-light. Electronic, not resistive, I.E. dimmer = reduced power consumption. N.B. also works with AC motors (e.g. fans) - do not exceed power limit of 300W. White model purchased - cosmetic issue: markings around knob have rubbed off already. Possible premature potentiometer wear: lamp has recently started momentarily extinguishing at the brightest setting, and dimming from ~90% to 70% is a bit rough - repeatedly twisting max to min a few times seems to calm it down 😅

Feels like a good quality build and worked perfectly with appropriate light bulb.
I gambled on buying this dimmer control, knowing from other reviews, that the device did not work with everybody's lamps. REVIEW SUMMARY Build quality feels good, but, INITIALLY it did not work with either of my LED lamps. However just before posting my initially prepared review, I thought the fault I was experiencing may be due to me using an inappropriate light bulb. This suspicion was confirmed by the dimmable controller working perfectly after I change the light bulb I was using in the lamp. To be fair, my final rating is based only on using the dimmer controller with the light bulb sold as "Dimmable" and the dimmer controller's build quality. ____________________________________________ DETAILED REVIEW I have two LED lamps and will describe how they each functioned separately. LAMP INITIALLY FITTED WITH, STANDARD LED LIGHT BULB - For dial positions within the, "LIGHT FLICKERS ZONE", (see images 1 & 2), using the standard LED light bulb (see images 3.1, 3.2, 3.3), the light flickered at a visibly high frequency, (see first part of video). - For ALL dial positions BELOW the, "LIGHT FLICKERS ZONE", the flickering stopped BUT the brightness was fix dim, as shown in image 5 and NOT of variable brightness. - For ALL dial positions ABOVE the, "LIGHT FLICKERS ZONE", the flickering stopped BUT the brightness was fix bright, as shown in image 6 and NOT of variable brightness NOTE - My camera's exposure setting was locked the same, between images 5 and 6. Same LAMP THEN FITTED WITH A, DIMAMABLE LED LIGHT BULB (sold as "Dimmable bulb" - see images 9.1, 9.2, 9.3) - NOW WORKS PERFECTLY! From DIMMEST most dimmable position, (dial turned to far left), where the light bulb was completely off, to the BRIGHTEST position, (dial turned to the far right), where the light bulb was at it's brightest, the increase in brightness was smooth and gradual as should be expected, with NO flickering and NO pulsating. So, one more time, for the record, with the correct light bulb, (sold as, "Dimmable bulb" - see images 9.1 and 9.2, 9.3), the dimmer controller worked perfectly. I have no video of the smooth increase in lighting described here, as I did not have the time to take another video, and then blend it into the already created video, to create a single video, (video upload limit here is one video per review); this section of testing actually occurred last, as an afterthought, just before posting what I now know would have been my initially more limited and not fairly representative review, lacking all relevant facts needed for a fair review. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ WITH FLAT LED LAMP (Tomshine Led Floor Lamp Remote & Touching Control https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B082LRF5WP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) - For dial positions within the, "PULSATION ZONE", (see image 7), when using the flat LED lamp light, (see flat LED lamp head in images 8.1, 8.2, 8.3), the light pulsated slowly, (see the second part of video). ____________________________________________ I hope will be helpful for many of you out there.

Creates a beautiful ambiance
This is perfect & has done exactly what I wanted it to do. Made what was a harsh light into a beautiful dimmed ambient light making our living room super cosy.

It is important to check the compatibility of the light that you attach to it.

this is quite useless. Sometimes everything working fine, then all of a sudden the light starts flickering, which is dangerous for my light, it can burn it. It is not worth it, there are better ways.
