Essential Kit for anyone expecting a baby
It’s 3am your baby is screaming, they feel hot, but do they have a temperature? Wonder no more with this great thermometer. It works really well. Simply turn it on, select the age of the child using one button, put it gently in their ear and press the other button. It will take a second and then display an accurate temperature that’s handily colour coded to tell you if that’s fever or not. It knows the fever thresholds for each age range and amends the display colour accordingly so you don’t need to look it up yourself. Blue for cold. Green for good. Orange for a temperature. Red for a fever. It has a hygiene cap on the end that goes in the ear that pops off easily with a little lever you press and it comes with spares to replace it. These fit in the bottom of the little case it comes with that keep them tidy. The battery life if good. It runs on AA batteries. We have had ours two years and only needed to replace the battery once. With two small children you can imagine it gets plenty of use, and abuse, my two year old got her hands on it once and was pressing all the buttons in a frenzy but continues working just fine. It’s essential kit for anyone expecting a baby. I got one for my sister as a gift so she’s is prepared.

Reliable, Fast, and Easy to Use – A Must-Have for Families
I’m really impressed with the Braun ThermoScan 7 Ear Thermometer. It’s quick, accurate, and incredibly user-friendly. The age-adjustable fever guidance is a smart feature that gives extra peace of mind, especially when checking temperatures for younger children. The pre-warmed tip makes readings more comfortable and consistent, and the backlit display is handy for taking temperatures at night without waking anyone up. It feels sturdy and well-made, and I appreciate the included storage case for keeping it clean and protected. This has made monitoring health at home much simpler and more reliable. Highly recommend for any household, especially with kids.

Accurate and Reliable After 5 Years
I’ve been using the Braun ThermoScan 7 for five years, and it’s still working just as well as when I first got it. The Age Precision technology is a useful feature, giving more accurate readings based on age, and the color-coded display makes it easy to interpret results quickly. It’s been especially helpful for checking temperatures in infants and young children. The readings are fast and consistent, and the pre-warmed tip helps ensure accuracy. The only downside is that it requires disposable lens filters, which means ongoing costs and the need to keep replacements on hand.Overall, this is a durable, accurate, and easy-to-use thermometer that has held up well over the years. If you want a reliable ear thermometer for all ages, this one is worth it.

Very good, but beware of price gauging..
There was a period early on in COVID-19 lockdown that it was near enough impossible to buy one of these for a reasonable price. Even Amazon were charging £50+ for them, some unscrupulous third-party sellers were listing them over £100, and people were buying them because they were desperate. You should be looking to buy them at around £40.It just so happened we needed one during this period, because our baby was sick and we were told we should try monitoring his temperatures. This had nothing to do with COVID, else we'd have just waited.Thankfully I managed to get one at £38 directly from Amazon, and it does seem to be very good, generally. The accuracy is hard to gauge really. Perhaps it fluctuates slightly due to ear position etc, but I have noticed its readings do vary occasionally. It has 3 temperature modes for: newborns, 3-36months and 36months+ - This is because temperatures can be more serious at these earlier points so the 'allowable' temperature tolerances are lower. It is helpful though that these are suitable from birth.I chose this style over other thermometers because this is the type all the medical staff seemed to use in the maternity wards. The tip is pre-warmed to try and make it less of a shock when taking your child's temps, however I still find our son hates having it done, and wriggles everywhere! It also has a memory feature, which tells you the last 9 stored temperatures. It's easy to use, though I would like the thermometer to remember/store the last age range entered. It's a faff having to add same age every time I want to use it.The case is nice and protects the vulnerable probe side of the device. It also comes with a small box of tips. These are single-use (not ideal) disposable tips that keep the unit hygienic. You get around 20 of these with the unit. You can buy refills via Amazon (I bought the official Braun ones, but there are cheaper imitations if looking to save money). The case allows you to store a box or two of these tips within itself. The reading only takes around 2 seconds once in the ear and button pressed, which is impressive, especially when trying to take temps of an irate baby! If temperatures are in the normal range for the selected age group, the temperature will be returned with a green backlight. If it is elevated for the age range it'll be amber, and it'd be advisable to monitor closely any changes. If it is too high, it'll show a red backlight. I believe if this happens you should speak to a GP about it (especially if children). This is worth the price in my opinion. There are cheaper alternatives, but I feel that if the Doctor's, Midwives and Nurses are using them all over the NHS then they must be the better option.

Fast and accurate. Perfect.
Everyone should have one of these. Especially if you have children. They are a little expensive but they are very accurate and that’s what we wanted. Something that would give accurate temperatures and quickly. The display is clear and it’s simple to use. I would definitely recommend.
