I bought this to use with a Raspberry Pi running RetroPie in a home built arcade machine. Does the job perfectly and was easy to set up. Its been in use for over 18 months and I have had no issues with it.

I bought this set to use my old Raspberry Pi 2B in a home-made arcade console. It can be tricky to set things up on the Pi, but eventually it all worked fine. I like the USB connection which takes away a lot of work making individual connections to the IO bus. I also like the buttons which are illuminated and have a real arcade machine feel about them. The joystick is good too being of robust construction. Came with all the necessary connecting leads to complete the job. The games machine is still going strong after about two years of use. I recommend this product for anyone undertaking a similar project.

Combined with a small project box (available on Amazon) I built a pinball controller for use with Virtual pinball and future pinball. There are enough buttons for 2 flippers, 2 nudges, coin, start, plunger, reset vr view and menu. 2 of the buttons had symbol cards inside which can be removed. 1 said "coin" and the other had a picture of a player like a men's bathroom icon. The LED brightness is a little high and the controller does look like a Christmas tree when the room is dark but I don't mind. Perhaps choose the non-lit version of this may be a concern for you. The buttons are responsive enough for me and I could not detect any delays between pressing and response on screen. The controller is very simple to setup in windows. No additional software is required. I have not used the supplied joystick.

For the price, setup was easy, I know its not exactly like an orignal machine from back in my day, however it was a great starting point and proof of concept. Many may never need to upgrade seeing as it all works as it should. The leds look great when installed in my pallet cabinate

I got these for my first DIY arcade build. I bought 2 sets of these buttons after originally purchasing some LED buttons from eBay but they required an extra 12v wiring harness and power supply to get them to light up which i did not want to do. With these buttons everything to get them working was included in the box. They were easy to wire (albeit with a bit of trial and error to get them all lit up) but they worked great. The boards which come with it were instantly recognised as game pads on my Raspberry Pi 3 and I was able to configure all of the buttons so I did not have to mess with a USB keyboard after the initial setup. The buttons have come loose a few times but this is pretty normal when using plastic nuts and threads but it is easy enough to resolve. The 8 way joysticks seem to work really well and I was concerned they may not have the same response when playing games like Street Fighter II but it was not an issue. If you want the simple life when building your own arcade system go with these buttons and joysticks.

To be honest I wasn't expecting much consideringthe cheap cost but I guess the saying never judge s book by its cover comes to mind .I don't have any experience in arcade machines at all but this kit makes it so easy a 6 year old can do it i know as my daughter helped me do mine as a joint project. Nice responsive buttons and joystick with very bright leds so playing in the dark is not an issue. To sum up very good kit for beginner to pro simple plug and play design and very cost effective.
