Q: My shea butter is grainy and doesnt melt completely, is this normal?

Shea butter is perfectly usable in its grainy state. The graininess has to do with how the shea butter cooled down. It can be used normally. It becomes grainy due to the different fatty acids melting, cooling and solidifiying at different temperatures. To "fix" the consistency of your shea butter, melt it over warm heat and cool it down rapidly in the freezer or putting the container in a bowl with ice. Stir it while it cools down for better results. If you still have some little grains, you can repeat the process again. Have into account that every time it is expoused to heat, if it is not cooled quickly, it will become grainy again.

They are wrong and do not know anything about palm oil obviously. Am Nigerian, use palm oil so should know. This shea butter is of very high quality. I recommend it.

I believe that Shea Butter does not expire. However, over a period of two or three years, it will begin to lose properties, as the natural ingredients start to break down. Its healing benefits will reduce, however it will continue to be an effective moisturizer. It has a long shelf life, store it in a cool place. If you're going to use it within a couple of years, you should have no problems.I bought some I August and the container doesn't have a expiry date. You can always contact the seller and ask them to give you more info about the original packing of the butter. You can find more info online.
