Q: What else is essential to power Lego Xmas train ? Don’t need it to be remote controlled.

You will need something because with 6 x AAA batteries in the trains can go too fast - this happened with the Winter Train set we have, but may be less of an issue with other sets. If it does, options are using a couple of dead / dummy batteries or the remote control unit that allows you to control speed. Instructions aren't brilliant though!

Hello Not sure exactly what 88000 is but looks like it’ll be the battery box. And yes you will need both as well as receiver. There are three or four separate parts to make the train go. The part you asked is the under carriage motor, you will also need a battery box, transmitter and receiver. Hope this helps. Regards Andrzej
