Maglite 2D LED Torch - Black

I bought one of these back in 2013 and I have just ordered a second. Please note the original torch is still working perfectly, I am just so impressed with it that I felt I needed one for upstairs.Don't be put off by the fact that this has a single LED, it is very, very bright. The focus on the beam is also adjustable so that you can have anything from a near spotlight to a fairly wide beam. The packaging says the beam will go 388 metres. I don't know if this is true and I don't really have any way of testing it but on the tight focus I can certainly shine a light on nearby trees and houses so it must be going at least 100m.This torch feels very sturdy; it has a metal casing with a purposely roughened area so that you won't lose your grip in the wet. In spite of that, it has survived me dropping it without even a scratch. If anything, at 665g, it is possibly a little too heavy for prolonged use but apart from that, I can think of nothing to criticize.It uses two 'D' cell batteries. Mine are still going strong after three years but in fairness I don't use the torch very often. I suspect that at my current rate of use, the batteries will expire before the torch drains them.All in all, if you want a very good, bright torch then buy this one.

These torches/flashlights are very sturdily made and have an excellent battery life using 2 off D type battery cells. Straightforward operation (on and off) and feeling that it will survive anything make them an excellent torch/flashlight.Pros:1. Well made. Solid metal case with rubber seals.2. Excellent battery life.3. Bright light with controllable coverage.Cons:1. Quite large (necessitated by the use of D type batteries).2. Darkish hole at the centre when using wide coverage.With the proliferation of small bright torches with unnecessary options for flashing, SOS etc. and short battery lives, this torch makes a welcome change. It is a straightforward, bright, robust and long battery life torch that just works. Love it. Thoroughly recommended.

I got 3 of these to give as presents.They are the newer, brighter, 134 Lumen ones, not the older 114 ones as stated on amazon.They are simple to operate, with a single mode as well as a momentary on "mode" (If you press the on button gently the torch goes on, if you release it, it goes off.).They are quite bright and throw their light at a large distance.Good looking torches.The zoom works OK.They feel solid.Note however that:They are larger than expected; much bigger than normal 2D torches.The spring on the back screw cap, which holds the batteries in place is very strong, making it difficult to screw in, with batteries inserted.The batteries rattle.Battery life is not great 9 (The 3D one is 10 times better).

This product is extremely sturdy and somewhat heavy for a torch, which is a good thing because a lighter torch would be easier to drop. Very easy to grip therefore, very nice feel in the hand, very powerful beam. Only grouch, battery life is not excellent. After maybe 3 Scout Camps, battery was done, however this was with extended use, so probably down to users own fault. However, depending on how you intend to use, very powerful tool, very nicely built and extremely useful.

Bought this as a present for my Dad, who has everything. He's a landscape gardener and hobbyist farmer and the aluminium body is well up to the mud, the rain and the occasional drop it's faced! The bulb is very bright and the batteries have really lasted well so far. The focus ability is occasionally useful and is very smooth but is rarely needed. This torch is very well built, quite heavy, but not too bad and not too big either. It is very bright, and the krypton torch it replaces was far bigger, got worryingly hot (which this doesn't) and got through the battery in about 30 minutes. This is a wonderful device, with modern technology in a tried and tested time proven body. Best of all worlds!!

It is a very good torch,single LED give a super light beam ,far better than rubbish multi LED torches ,switch always works,very reliable, the batteries last a very long time so it does pay to remove and check the batteries every six months to ensure the batteries are not leaking. The screw on cap to retain the batteries has a rather fine thread so be careful not to cross thread it when screwing it back on to the torch body, best medium size torch I have ever owned, being light and made from aluminium it would not put up with a lot of bashing like a rubber covered torch does ,just treat it with care.Most important for me was a good reliable light.

I'm one of those crazy people who have to walk the dog in the dark for 5 months of the year. This torch is amazing, it lights up the entire field, no doubt to much annoyance of the snoozing neighbours! Not only that, it gives me peace of mind that should someone take the opportunity to attack me, I have a hefty weapon to deter them, not that it's overly heavy, just a very good quality torch. Battery life is good too, got this torch in December and 3 months down the road, it's still glowing as bright as ever. Very robust too, it's been dropped several times on concrete etc and no damage. A torch for life - hopefully.

This was fantastic value in 2016 when I bought it for £22. Its current price of £50 is just too high. I know inflation is high but that is ridiculous.Bombproof build quality and fantastic brightness. My eight year old torch still looks and feels new.

Eine schwere Taschenlampe, die nicht aus China stammt. Dank LED Licht ist sie energiesparend. Ich trage sie zum Ausleuchten von dunklem Radwegen, die grüne Bürgermeisterin von Strasbourg hat auf vielen Radwegen die Beleuchtung ausschalten lassen um Energie zu sparen und mich hat prompt eine Gruppe verhaltensauffälliger Neubürger beim Vorbeiradeln mit einem Faustschlag ans Kinn vom Rad geholt. Unerwartet und unprovoziert. Jetzt habe ich die Lampe als Lichtquelle und zur Selbstverteidigung.

Se vi serve una torcia per la vita, non ci sono altre scelte. Robustezza a prova di tutto, luminosità straordinaria (ma esistono anche kit led di maggiore potenza), avendone cura si compra una volta nella vita. Naturalmente tutto ha un prezzo, anche se io lo trovo convenientissimo data la durevolezza e l'affidabilità. E non è leggerissima, ma tutto non si può avere. Se un difetto voglio proprio trovare, si avverte la mancanza di un gancio per appenderla, alla cintura o in qualsiasi altro posto.
