Orphan Black - Series 3 [DVD]

Superb entertainment!

Season 3 of Orphan Black was great. More of Tatiana Maslany's fantastic nuanced performances as clones Sarah, Cosima, Alison, Helena, Rachel, Beth and late in the season a new favourite, nail stylist Krystal. Once again she is superb at differentiating the clones even when it is one clone impersonating another. I was not a big fan of the Castor clones and the idea we might get more boy clones to the detriment of the Leda clones was a worry. However apart from a bit of a run from episodes 2-5 where we got no Delphine and hardly any Mrs S (and there is never enough Felix) the male clones didn't dominate too much. The show isn't the delightful surprise it was in S1 and the mythology and conspiracy is a bit over convoluted at times but for me, season 3 made more sense than some of season 2.After watching on tv, I wanted the lovely quality of blu ray, and the episodes look fab, however HUGELY disappointed that this uk release has pretty much nothing in the way of extras! The US release boasted a slew of interesting looking extras that I wrongly assumed would be on the UK one too but all we get is a recap of S1&2, a preview of S3 (which we are watching, idiots!) and a 90sec feature of the Castor clones. Extremely disappointing for UK fans!! Grrr!Love the show, not pleased with the vanilla release though..

It is a definite 5 star but unlike many other reviewers I think it got slightly weaker in season 3 compared to two previous. Tatiana Maslany is still amazing, perhaps for this very reason the introduction of male clones and resulting need for a double-cell clone donor to support it doesn't feel natural or logical. But the story is strong, acting by Maslany is superb and characters created by her and others are absorbing, deep and fascinating.I am not a ms Righty Pants and some black humour in this series is very good. However I sort of disagree with Alison and her husband being portrayed as good guys. OK, killing an evil doctor was an accident, but selling drugs to finance her school trustee campaign and letting her win and get the dirty drug money was a bit over the top.

Every bit as brilliant as the first 2 series. The only thing I found slightly disappointing was the lack of diversity with the Castor Clones was that, other than the few changes in appearance, they were all pretty much the same. Maybe that was deliberate... or maybe the actor playing them just isn't as strong as Tatiana Maslany, so they decided to play the characters in a fairly similar way. Going forwards, it'd be good to meet some strong new clones from both Leda and Castor... and I won't ruin the ending, but it did leave me with a WTF expression... I'm not sure how they're going to play it - but it looks like it could take a very unexpected turn. All I know is I can't wait to see what is coming next!

Love this series. After a very interesting series 1 a second series that in places was a lot to take it-this series really sharpens up dramatically. if you like drama, not just Si-Fi drama-give it a go. Lots of chat about why this isn't on the BBC. Simple answer is that it's made by BBC America-a commercial channel. So the BBC in the UK-either didn't get the rights or couldn't afford to keep them.

Hooked - I was completely hooked. It wasn't difficult to watch all three seasons within 3 weeks. The main actress is so very talented, as were others, but she stood out. Try not to read too much of the synopsis - if this were a book, it would be a 'page turner' until your little eyes fall out. Fantastic, ever changing storyline. I could quite easily watch it again in a few months or so. Immediate availability from Amazon to watch. I'm still smiling.

Another excellent series. Orphan Black is the best TV series around right now. Edge of your seat plot, incredible writers and the best actors. Tatiana Maslany has got to be the best actor in the world to convincingly play as many completely different characters as she does that you forget they're all the same actress. And Ari Millen also does a fantastic job in this series with playing the different Castor clones. If you're not watching Orphan Black then you are a fool.

I love this series. Having just watched the last episode of it last night, I can safely say that this series does not disappoint. It is every bit as good as the first 2. I'm just sad I now have to wait dor the next series! All the main characters feature, with good side plots, action, relationships and plot twists. Also a good ending that leaves you wanting to know more.
