totally excellent!
Got this to replace on that was with the house,( different make) was going to get the model with the timer, but the clear info from the supplier on amazon explained it was not suitable for my wiring. The SIL100s arrived this morning, clear instructions and seems well made-the wires have a cover over them with a gasket (my old one did not) and as this is for a bathroom that can be damp really important. It too me 40 minutes to fix it, most of that was making new holes for it to fix as different size than previous one-looks smart (no ugly screw holes showing-old one screws had gone rusty) its as described 'whisper' quiet. 5 year guarantee as well

Quiet and nice looking
I purchased the SIL100S "Silent" extractor fan for a small downstairs toilet. There was no existing fan in this room so i tried an Xpelair unit initially which in the event sounded like a light aircraft ! I also tried a spare Manrose extractor unit I had which was also very noisy. Since the fan I needed is required to be fitted in the ceiling which is fairly low , noise was a real consideration. I fitted the SIL100S and I have to say it is substantially quieter than any other fan I have have ever heard (including those in other homes). It is not really "Silent" but having said this I would recommend this unit and it would be my first choice if I needed to fit another one elsewhere. It is also very nice looking in plain white and very slim, a neon indicator light is fitted as standard but there is no pull cord. The backdraught shutter appears to be very frail but to be fair time will tell if it is up to the job. I found it simple to fit and wire in and although I was happy not to have timer (to save on wiring and price) buying a unit with a timer is probably more sensible. Accepting that it is very quiet rather than silent , you won't be disappointed if you purchase this extractor fan.

Quiet and also good seller service
I purchased one of these from MCD Electrical initially - it arrived quickly and I was initially unsure about the draft flap on the back - the seller responded immediately however (turns out the flap is actually a transparent plastic ring, so do not throw away!).I have now had these installed and running nearly non-stop for about 2 months. So far, so good, no issues. The operating light is a small LED under the white plastic cover and hence only really visible in darker environments. The fans are very quiet but of course not totally silent. They seem to have a good extraction rate compared to some cheap fans I had previously. Installation was very straightforward even for a non-expert like me.Overall a good buy.

As good as advertised - A great buy.
When I read terms such as "Silent" I am normally very suspicious, but his case with the management nagging me to replace our 12V fan that can be heard by our neighbours, I decided to give this fan a go. To my great delight, the fan has exceeded my expectations - fitting was straight forward with the only complication being the removal of a transformer for my original 12V fan.One point of note, the fitting instructions refer to rubber mounting blocks in the pack up. I could not find these, so I contacted the UK manufacturers who helpfully pointed out that some 'older' stock contain instructions that are out of date. The rubber mounting has been incorporated in the fan assembly so given the installer one less issue to deal with.Otherwise, after installation I was delighted to switch on and avoid noise complaints. The fan is mounted in an en-suite bathroom and is driven by a separate 'humidstat' sensor - that is now set a sensible setting with no risk that the fan's operation will disturb the rest of the household. All in all, a great buy which gives a dramatic reduction in extractor noise.

good also for air extraction from isolation box
Didnt really use it for what it was intended as I have it installed on a 1m x 1m x 0.5m perspex box that I use for my 3D printer. It extracts the air out of the box (into a flexible duct that I hang out the window). It does this job really well as I cant detect any smell coming from the 3D printer anymore but that is not too big a surprise since I did test it with (visible) smoke to make sure that it was extracting. Just one thing I had to make sure of was that there was a sufficiently large air intake hole in the box as otherwise it struggles to extract but I guess I made the box a little too air-tight initially! It is also sufficiently quiet for this desktop application. Would buy again.

This is for the none timer model
The media could not be loaded. Easy to install, this is Envirovent no 3 in our household finally getting rid of an unreliable other branded product.Four screws in the ceiling and two wires, job done.Well it is if you aren’t starting from scratch.Very quiet in operation and there is a membrane preventing dust particles and spiders getting through.I’m lucky that our house wiring is quite new and the existing wiring is long enough to reach. There is a small trap door to protect the terminations. There is a recess for the wiring to prevent trapping but it is very narrow and the wires are difficult to separate. The front cover just pushes on and there is a small LED that is just visible when it’s powered on.I like the cover that prevents dust and spiders falling though the blades (marked in red on my picture). The fan is quiet but I do find that I can never get the fans to fit totally flush without the blades catching.I think it has something to do with the builders using solid plastic duct that may not be perfectly square?

Very quiet and great value.
This fan is excellent compared to the previous one we had. Although I wouldn't say it was silent exactly it is sooo much quieter it might as well be. We actually have a fan fitted above our sitting room door to help move the heat from the stove around the rest of the bungalow and it was definitely noticeable before. Now we hardly hear it except when there is no other noise in the room (not often!).It was very reasonably priced, and certainly much cheaper than other shops/sites we looked at. It arrived promptly and in excellent condition.
