Quality product
I am a Masters Student and spent the past couple of days slowly transcribing interviews for my research. After deciding that I needed to speed things up, I made the snap decision to purchase this foot pedal after investing in some transcribing software. What a joy. It arrived, and within a minute of unpacking, it was in place and doing its job. It couldn't have been easier. I have nothing to compare it to as I have never used anything like this before, but it feels good quality, it is very responsive and user-friendly. It doesn't take up a lot of room but is big enough for my feet to find the part of the pedal it needs to go forward, backwards stop or play. I am using it with Express Scribe, which can be bought as a bundle, but I didn't do this.

Ready to go in under a minute
I had already downloaded, and without a foot pedal was struggling with, the great free transcription software Express Scribe. This was the foot pedal they suggested so I thought I would go for it. There are no instructions with the pedal, and to be honest there didn't need to be. Within a minute of opening the package I had plugged the USB cable into my computer and windows (vista in my case) had recognised the pedal and installed the drivers. I started Express Scribe and clicked on options and then controller. The program already knew that the pedal had been installed so all I had to do was click to tell it to use it. It was that simple and I was up and running in under a minute. The pedal itself is nice and weighty so it doesn't move around under foot. The pedals are comfortable to use. Audio typing is hell without one and this one seems to be good quality, simple to use and for a reasonable price.

So Simple & easy to use
This was a really good value and easy to use bit of kit. I read a review on this product that estimated this saved 3-400% (or was it 4-500%?) of time to do the transcription - I would suggest that it was considerably more than that. What was more it was just so simple to use. I downloaded Express Scribe ([...]) which was free, plugged in the foot pedal, assigned functions to each of the 3 pedals and off I went. If I have a teeny comment to make it was that the default setting for the controls seemed a bit counter-intuitive (easily remedied) and perhaps a little more irritatingly the rewind pedal seems to move the audio back very slowly (at least at first, but maybe that makes sense to people who're more experienced at transcribing audio than I am). Overall, I think this represents excellent value for money and I thoroughly recommend it.

Easy to configure
I bought the Infinity USB Foot Pedal (IN-USB-2) because I had moved to 64-bit Windows, killing my Olympus footswitch. The specifications don't say so, but this works fine in 64-bit Windows 7. Sturdy and heavy enough to stay put on the floor, USB drivers automatically load when you plug it in. No need for instructions really. The bad news is that it does not work with the software that Olympus provides with digital recorders. While the suggested software, NCH's ExpressScribe, is adequate, it lacks some of the features of Olympus's software. But it does add the ability to configure the footswitch to do what you want. I like the option to set the five-second "backspace". Thanks partly to this, the switch is easier to use than the Olympus switch that it replaces. At something like £12, it makes sense to go for the Pro version of ExpressScribe if you have any Olympus DSS files. This was delivered as quickly as possible. Ordered late Monday, despatched on Tuesday arrived by post on Wednesday. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As an update to this, and in the light of a complaint here about having to pay for software, I thought it worth warning people against the practices of NCH Software, authors of Express Scribe. The program is not bad - or especially good - but installing it can land you in software hell. You do not have to pay for the free version of Express Scribe but it does invite you to buy an "improved" version. NCH also stomps all over your PC to such an extent that trying to open many types of files produces an invitation to download, install and buy yet more NCH software, most of which you will never need or want. I am constantly on the lookout for scam-free transcription software that works with this footswitch. Anything to reduce my use of NCH's products.

It works well
I needed this to work with Big Hand. From reading the reviews I wasn't sure whether it would work or not but it was a very good price compared to anything else so I decided to risk it. It was easy to set up and seemed to work OK but then it all went funny. However after switching everything off and restarting it's worked perfectly since - I think I just thoroughly confused it at the beginning by trying to change all the settings at the same time. It's been working perfectly with Big Hand for the last six months so I would recommend it for this purpose.

Great piece of equipment BUT...
I'm a final year student at university and I needed this for help with transcribing interviews for my dissertation. Currently in the middle of doing so! As much as I didn't want to spend so much money on it, and I still feel for what it is, its too much money but I couldn't find anything cheaper! Further disappointment is that it doesn't come with any instructions or any software to actually use it with!! I find this staggering considering the price of it, I would at least expect it to come with a programme you can use it with. However I knew this would be the case before I bought it as far as software goes but the fact it came with no instruction or help in regards to actually finding or recommending software to use with it, is just bad! Thankfully, I'm handy with computers/know how to use them etc. So i was able to google software to use it on which is called 'Express Scribe'. Though even this software isn't the most simple to use and tries to be sneaky in getting you to pay for their 'premium' software version (which you don't actually need for simple recording playback), and my mum who isn't as tech savy as me (but still has a fair idea), struggled to come to grips with this and ended up giving up using it for her counselling course. So if you find yourself going to download this software (which is the only one I found) to let it trick you into thinking you need a 'pro' package because that means you are just gonna add more money on top of what you paid for the pedal. Make sure you click to download the free version or else every time you upload a recording on the pro version it will tell you, you have to buy the 'pro' package in order to do so. Anyway I know the software is nothing to do with the the pedal itself, but all this confusion and complicated-ness could be avoided if the company weren't so lazy and just make their own software that comes with the pedal so that when you plug it in it automatically works and you can get started straight away rather than the whole circus show of googling and downloading software online. THE GOOD! Yes there is actually good points! Sorry for the above rant but its frustrating when you buy something at such a price, you expect there to be some sort of help or guidelines towards how to actually get it to work! But once you get it up and running and have the right FREE software downloaded and recordings uploaded, the pedal itself works a treat! It has really sped up my transcribe and saved so much time and effort of flicking back and fourth through windows to pause and play, or rewind etc. I can continuously type and stop and rewind effortlessly. If you don't mind a bit of hoo-haa with getting software and are fairly tech savy like me then I would still recommend getting this as I don't think there is a better alternative unfortunately! Or maybe there is and I didn't look hard enough. Either way it could have been made a lot easier to use if it came with its own software, which really for the price, it should do. Instead other companies are trying to rip you off to buy 'pro' transcribe software that you probably don't actually need to buy, so make sure you look to download the FREE version! If you want to know how to find the software, simply type 'infinity foot pedal transcribe software' into google and it should be the first link to come up (nch.com), open the page...don't click the 'download' button in red (the most obvious download button to the right of the screen) as that is the 'pro' package download and it will ask you to buy it in order to upload your recordings. But in the third paragraph down the page under 'get express scribe free' there will be a link in blue and underlined...click that to download your free version... and from there it is easy enough to understand! Hope this helps! Once this is downloaded, I have had no problems with using the pedal and it does the job it says it should do! I would have given this higher stars had it not been so complicated with downloading software!

Has sped up my transcriptions no end
I'm working on a PhD at the moment, which means I'm spending a lot of time interviewing people and then transcribing these interviews for analysis. I'm no slow typist, but even so having to rewind audio to make sure I got every word down resulted in a very sloooooow rate of transcription. With audio files piling up I decided to buy a USB pedal, and while the price made me slightly wince (poor student here) frankly it's worth its weight in gold. My transcription speeds have easily sped up three fold and I jsut wish I'd bought one months ago. It's a solid product, and coupled with the free version of Express Scribe makes transcription (almost) a breeze!

Worth the money.... download transcription program before use though.
I will start by saying how very sturdy these pedals are, which I was surprised at given I paid very little for them in comparison to what other companies are selling for. Initially I was a little confused how to start use (I've been out of the working scene for a few yrs!) But after a quick Google search, it jogged my memory, downloaded express scribe, got into the settings and finally penny dropped!! Work well so far, mightily impressed.
