Great oven at bargain price
I had been looking at getting a Dutch Oven for camping trips, however not ever having used one I was unsure how much use one would get, especially considering the price of the more top end ones.I decided to try a ronnie sun shines one, thinking it would be a good second oven if it wasn't good enough as a main. The oven arrived and 1st impressions were good, nice oven, lid handle and storage bag. They are supposedly pre-seasoned, but after a warm water wash I opted to season it, but it probably didn't need it.The hanging handle does seem a bit thin, but having cooked a chilli for 8 in it, with the oven full to brim the handle coped fine. The lid is a good fit and I have no issues with it, other than the handle stops it fully being used upside down as a skillet. I've so far used it a couple of times for cooking outside, and a camping trip, and after some abuse I've just re-seasoned it tonight ready for our next camping trip. All in all, it might not have the perfect finish of brands twice the price, but for the money I'm really impressed and would consider buying another (or maybe a skillet)

But the pot did well and it looks like I will get my money's worth out of it
Bought as a second pot to use. I also bought the tripod and oven set.I seasoned it first, I don't think you have to but it all helps. The writing on the lid seems to have suffered a bit after first use and I have oiled it up again for storage to see if that will help it a bit. But the pot did well and it looks like I will get my money's worth out of it. I think the bag is really important, made carting them across the field easy and now they are in storage I don't know how I would have done it without the bags.2 of these cooked cakes for 10 girls on camp with left overs. it would have fed 15 easy.

Very pleased, not a problem.
I give this five stars as for the price you can't beat it... I think. The casting on MINE was very even and of appropriate thickness throughout the whole pot plus lid.The lid on MINE fit perfectly and the handle, although is fairly on the weak side, was not bent or uneven in the slightest.I have read the other reviews and see that most of you have unsatisfactory bail handles but MINE seems fine.I would recommend his oven to anyone on a budget or new to dutch oven cooking and to be careful when buying as the product results seem to vary.

Not bad for the price but there's better out there
The one I got seems to be different to some of the other reviews; the lid fits fine and it appears to have reasonably uniform thickness. So perhaps the issue is a quality control one and I'm just lucky!I never believe 'pre-proved' because I always do that myself - properly!A number of reviews mention the handle being a bit flimsy. They're right! It would present a lot better if the handle was better made! However I only use this sort of cooking gear over an open fire and I use a lid-lifter. I've used it several times now and I can live with the handle issue.Would I buy again? No! I wouldn't.I don't regret buying this though.I've bought some better quality cast iron pans, Dutch oven and a griddle from Germany, made by a company called 'Barbecue Bull' now, which are better finished.

Excellent
Excellent value, good quality (including bag and lid lever) didn’t need seasoning ready to go

Poor quality castings of uneven thickness... rough in finish, and the lids don't fit properly.
The Ronnie Sunshines brand of Dutch ovens are poorly made. I cannot recommend them. The castings are not good, having the following faults. They are roughly finished inside and out, appearing to be straight from crude sand casting. This means the lids cannot seal properly as required of a good Dutch oven. Neither have the mating surfaces been "ground in" at all, that part of the process having been omitted altogether. Matters are made worse by the fact that the lids also rock, because they are somewhat distorted. Moreover, a good Dutch oven has a casting that is of consistent thickness around its whole diameter. This is important for eveness cooking, especially when baking. Unfortunately, sometimes Ronnie Sunshines ones are so unevenly cast, with one side nearly twice as thick as the other, that they don't even hang level from the wire bail.Ronnie Sunshine's Dutch ovens are relatively cheap in UK, much cheaper than American Lodge ones for instance, but they cannot be recommended, not by me at any rate! The griddles and skillets made by Ronnie Sunshines are similarly roughly finished, but it matters less, because there are no parts that need to fit together.I have two had two Ronnie Sunshines 4 litre Dutch ovens. The first one arrived slightly cracked. Neither of the two lids I now have fits the replacement Dutch oven any better than the other.

Love the logo
Top quality Dutch oven. Love the logo, and the free carry bag and lid lifter is great too. The seasoning is spot on (nothing stuck on during a recent camp trip) and my advice if you're camping is to use a tripod. Thanks guys and hopefully deal with you again.
