First thought: very skeptical
During covid-19 times, more and more people are working from home and I'm no exception. I've set up my home-office in my box room upstairs, which is on the opposite side across where my Wi-Fi router is located downstairs. It's the worse room for Wi-Fi signal. Both my personal computer and my work laptop normally had one, maybe two bars of signal and I keep having calls being dropped during meetings. That's enough! I started looking for ways to get a better signal - I didn't spend the amount of time I normally spend when I buy gadgets online but I've done some reading and from what I gathered, I should avoid Wi-Fi signal "boosters" or "extenders" and leave this option as last resort. So my options narrowed down to powerline network adapter, which uses your power cables as network signal conductor and wherever you set up your extender device, a new Wi-Fi hotspot is created. I was skeptical about the whole situation where the power sockets being used should be in the same power circuit, otherwise I'd either have a drop in network speed or have no signal at all. Now, I'm aware that my power sockets are within different circuits across my house, I can turn on/off power supply on almost each room of my house so when I bought this device, I was expecting to have issues, which was definitely not the case.Once I've paired both devices, my next step was to plug them into their permanent sockets. The adapter was obviously set up nearby the Wi-Fi router, downstairs, to feed the powerline with the Internet signal. The extender device was set up in my landing, distributing a full-strength Wi-Fi signal upstairs, to all rooms.About the product: great build quality and extremely easy to set it up. It took me a few minutes to get it up and running. I configured it to the way I wanted. Changed my SSIDs, added my custom password - I recommend that the 'admin' account password gets changed, as well. Apart from the build quality and setup easiness, there's not much to say. Now, its core value-proposition: does it do the job? Heck yes! Download speed increased by 50x (that's right!) and upload speed increase by 5x. It's important to note that I'm able to get this speed increase because I'm using the 5GHz signal, instead of the standard 2.4GHz - I've tested connection speeds from my original Wi-Fi router, from TP-Link Extender (using 2.4GHz) and also from TP-Link Extender (using 5GHz) - you can see the results in the photo I've attached to this review, it's quite a different experience now.Another few tests I've made, which I won't cover in too much details, just an overview - transferring files from and to my NAS servers. I've noticed quite the improvement and it takes around 20% of the time it used to, at least. I can now play 4K videos directly from my NAS with no lag whatsoever. Hands down, a great purchase.I strongly recommend this product!

TV Streaming Problem Solved - Very happy!
We had constant issues with trying to stream TV over our wifi due to the weak wifi signal strength in our extension where we watch TV. I was looking for a solution that enabled me to stream TV over an ethernet link from my existing router and also deliver a strong wifi signal for phone/tablet browsing. After research the TP-Link TL-WPA8630PKIT appeared to exactly meet these requirements.First impressions on opening the box and removing the kit was that it had the feel and look of quality. The sheet of installation and set up instructions is very easy to follow. Installation basically just requires the units to be paired and the router network name to be extended to the TP-Link if you so wish. You can use the default TP-Link network name in addition to your existing router if you want an additional network. For ease of use I wanted to continue using my existing network name throughout the house. To do this is a simple if you have a WPS button on your existing router. You just have to press the WPS button then the WIFI button on the TP-Link and the rest is automatically done. If you do not have a WPS button you can use the phone app to change the network name but I can't comment on how easy that is to do.I was fully expecting something to go wrong and to be looking up trouble shooting instructions but to my surprise and delight everything worked as it should and the kit was installed and working in 15 mins.We now have uninterrupted TV streaming and much faster wifi at that end to the house. The wifi now extends out into the garden which it did not before. The extender adaptor is working on a different ring main to the main unit but this is not causing any problems and the speed seems to be fine.Overall very pleased with this product and it comes with a 3 year warranty so hoping for good reliability but only time will tell.

Great device, easy set up, just consider cosmetically
This is a great product. Easy set up.Easily paired and easily cloned hub. Strong signal and now my dead zone in garage is spot on.The only reason I didn’t give five star is because it’s “ huge” the adapter. If you have old house and sockets near floor all okay. I however have a modern house with sockets higher up. All my existing sockets aren’t visible behind my tv cabinet and sound bar. This however is. It’s about 3 inch talker than a normal socket. To make it worse the earthernet cable comes out of the TOP. WTF is that about. Like my wife said definitely designed by a fellow. If it needs to be so big the 3 pin socket should be at top of the adaptor to lower it not at the bottom to higher it. Also the earthernet lead should plug in at the BOTTOM not the TOP.This is a great device, however if modern house please weigh it up. I am now looking for some feet to raise my tv cabinet

Much better than expected.
I’ve always been hesitant to try Powerline stuff as I heard bad things about the quality of the connections from back in the early days of the technology. However I now have a large enough home where I have a bit of distance between my PC and the router and I didn’t fancy running network cables through the house so I bit the bullet and tried these out. They’re pretty easy to setup, however I’d be wary of just going through the quick-start plug and play method that the guide tells you to. I did this and after a couple of days of terrible performance I found out that my units were connected into the network of the neighbouring flat, and they were leeching my broadband!! After working this out I paired mine up manually using the code on the unit and blocked my neighbours from connecting (sorry pal).Once the above issues were resolved they have been rock solid, both the wired connection and the wireless through the 2nd unit. I do a bit of online gaming and my ping is good and I’m getting zero packet loss, and this has been something that had concerned me before purchasing.I work in IT and I’m not easily impressed but I strongly recommend these!
