Beautifully illustrated, this book is a perfect introduction to anatomy and physiology for young students. The text accompanying the illustrations is peppered with interesting details and is clear, concise and basic enough to hold the attention of readers young and old. My 9-year-old grandson loved receiving this book. An age-appropriate degree of caution may be required regarding the section on Reproduction, but overall the book is a great reference for the bookshelf and will be useful for years to come. Highly recommended!

Very informative to read and follow. Vibrant illustrations. Helpful to extend knowledge and understanding at a basic level.

I find that these DK books can be a bit hit and miss, some are all pretty pictures but contain very little real understanding of the topic. This one is a definite hit. It is a superb resource for children. The Eye catching and detailed illustrations provide a great hook to get them interested as well has complementing the text and explaining the topic. The book covers basic topics such at cells and DNA, before covering each body system in more detail and then focusing on different parts of the body in more detail. It is quite a nice way to organise the complex topic. The large pages offer plenty scope for interesting diagrams - this is used to full effect with lots of double page illustrations. The information is well presented and of a high standard. There is no shying away from using the correct term or explaining a complex idea to the full. This is a huge topic - and even in this chunky book you can't cover everything, but there is enough in here to answer a lot of questions and prick curiosity. A great starting point for an interest in human biology.

Detailed and nicely laid out book that provide info for youngsters I'd say suitable all the way to highschool. At times, it is the diagrams and graphics that get children interested in the subject. Very nice.
