Good bit of kit
I took a punt on this despite it being one of the more expensive ones, based on reviews, and that cheap tools are rarely a good investment. It has exceeded my expectations. The base is solid and heavy, and the whole thing seems sturdy and well-made. The action is smooth and without any play. The vertical shaft is off-square by about 0.1mm over 19cm.I drilled a test hole in MDF and then put the shaft of the drill bit in the hole, it fitted perfectly, and again, was off-square by 0.1mm (if that). That's accurate enough for my needs. It only has 5.5cm travel, but I doubt that will be much, if any hindrance for me.

Good drill stand at an attractive price
Good product and what I expected for the price. As some others commented - this is probably not the right tool for very accurate work. There is a lot of movement so you are not going to get millimetre accurate positioning. On the positive side: I found the base heavier and sturdier than I expected. I connected a pretty decent vice (also ordered through Amazon) with no problem. The mechanism to lower the drill seems quite sturdy too.The ring to secure a drill is quite wide and just about fitted my drill without rubbing on the chuck. All in all what I needed at a good price, just don't expect results you would get from a good bench drill

Very useful drill stand
I needed this to help drill some vertical holes in a large wooden part and needed soemthing much more reliable then holding the drill by hand. I was using the stand freely standing on the workpiece (its very large) The drill (a large electronic black and decker) fitted snugly in the drill clamp. The stand was easy to assemble and set up although would benefit from a bit of tweaking whilst doing so. Take care that the vertical down pipe doesnt protrude below the bottom of the stand. The base has a hole in the middle so its possible to drill through the base into the surface below - if thats what you need to do (I did) so that was very useful. I also managed to flip the drill holder around and put a (very (20 Kg)) large weight on the stand and use some larger hole saws. There is a bit of lateral play - about 1mm - when using the lever. The depth guide is bit fiddly if you want to use the stop - useful feature. I think it wouldnt have hurt to include a hex key to assemble - but I have plenty of spare ones to tie on anyway. There are some similar looking ones that say they have a 38mm clamp, this one doesnt its 43 mm and its nice and well fitting.Overall for an inexpensive stand its easy to complain, but it did what I wanted to easily and will remain a very useful accessory.

Fairly good budget drill press alternative
I used this jig for around six months while saving up for a drill press. I liked that it is solid, with a heavy vertical shaft and steel base, and it's easy to bold things to it.Out of the box it is a bit wobbly, because of the design of the lever mechanism, but that was easily solved with extra washers. It has one design flaw that ultimately made me very happy when I switched. The vertical and horizontal adjustment is handled by just one clamp. There's no rack and pinion mechanism like in drill presses to restrict the drill to the vertical axis. So that clamp has to be tightened very tight with just a little wing nut, which is not really made for pressure as it's small. I ended up replacing this with a large handle, but it still wasn't 100% satisfactory. With drills this really wasn't an issue, but when I used it with hole saws it didn't produce a satisfying vertical cut. It's easy to make a crude hold-down clamp with just an M8 bolt and a piece of drilled wood for this thing. When using this with bobbin sanders, wire brushes and other applications that don't require use of the lever, the solidity of the tool comes into its own.

it is solid & accurate and would recommend to look no further
Bought this after purchasing several others all of which were rubbish & took them back for a refund. This wolfcraft drill stand is different class and cheaper than the ones I returned, it is solid & accurateand would recommend to look no further.

not a precision tool
This item is low cost but also low precision. There is too much play in the system for any kind of precise at all. It would be good for repeated low precision drilling of vertical holes at a set depth but for any accuracy you will need to invest in a heavier duty drill press than this. I gave up using it and revert back to drill by hand.

A basic drill stand which suits my needs. There is a little play in the mechanism, which can be tweaked. Overall satisfactory.

Reasonable value, holds the drill firmly in place.
Used to mount my Bosch corded drill. Quite well made but the casting of the base looks roughly finished. I thought the base might have been cast aluminium and was thus very careful not to overtighten the locking bolt holding the main upright in place but magnets are attracted to it so I'm guessing cast iron ( possibly steel). As there is no support for the top end of the drill, I wondered just how steadily the drill would be held in place. However, it's no problem, the drill is clamped very firmly in place behind the chuck and there is no instability.Due to the rough finish of the base, I thought the stand was a little overpriced but I'm glad I bought it, it's very useful.
