Q: What is the significance of 40gbps if the drive can only transfer at 2700mb/s? isn't only around 7% of 40gbps?

Drive transfer is 2700 MB/s (mega bytes/s), since 1 byte=8 bits so 2700 x 8= 21600 mb/s, which is more than 50% of 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt

Q: Will it work with the new iPhone 15 Pro Max for recording video direct?

I purchased this to use with new iPhone 15 Pro for ProRes record. But it does not even get recognize from iPhone. I do not recommend to buy this if you are into using with iPhone.

It’s my understanding that Apple’s Thunderbolt ports are backward compatible. So it should work. But you won’t get the full speed this drive is capable of delivering. This is a Thunderbolt 3 design.

Q: Can this work (i'm concern over power needs and heat) with the iPhone 15 Pro Max for 4K 60 ProRes video?

I tried mine (same combo) and it only detected as a thunderbolt device. I don’t know that it will work at all. (I’m planning on trying a different cable, I’ll follow up if it’s good news.)
