SAMSON PS04 Pop Filter

The Samson PS04 is a good value pop filter. I use it with an AKG P420 mic and it does a great job at reducing vocal popping and sibilance. It has a screw clamp mount to attach it to any mic stand and an 8" gooseneck so you can adjust the position to suit. I find using the mic stand side-on I can easily adjust the filter to the ideal position and I like the compact nature of the product. Most importantly, the gooseneck is firm enough that it doesn't start drooping out of position after a few minutes. If you need a greater distance from the mount to the filter, Samson also offers the PS01 which has the same pop filter but attaches to an elongated metal bracket via a 12" gooseneck. A pop filter is an essential piece of audio equipment and you can't go wrong with this well made, good priced example.

Whilst I haven't actually tried this out, I was somewhat disconcerted to find a label attached saying "Warning: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm". Consequently I will be returning the item.

Nice quality product as always from Samson.

The item does the job but the hand is hard to get into position and event the pop shield itself is somewhat unreliable, it is kindda to thin and i wonder how long it gonna last but for now it does a good job.

Ich habe schon länger nach einem guten Popschutz für mein "Samson Meteor Mic" gesucht. Als ich auf dieses Produkt gestoßen bin, war ich jedoch erst skeptisch was den Preis anging, habe mich jedoch dann doch entschieden, den Popschutz zu kaufen und auszuprobieren. Enttäuscht wurde ich jedoch nicht: Er ist sehr stabil, hat ein gutes Material und klingt wirklich wunderbar. Eine Kaufempfehlung für jeden der auf der Suche nach einen richtig guten Popschutz ist!

J’utilise ce filtre anti-pop pour de la voix off avec un Shure sm58. J’en Suis très satisfait. Il est robuste, la fixation est efficace et le filtre joue son rôle. Je le conseille donc.

I had another pop filter that looked very similar to this one, but it had one critical flaw: the arm simply didn't stay put. It would only work if I had it hanging down from above. I picked this model because the arm was shorter (about 9" instead of 12"), and I figured that would bend less under its own weight. But the overall arm is much "tighter" anyway. So it stays where I put it. The clamp is very well built; see the photo I included. It's got a nice thick rubber sleeve on the fixed "v" side, and the moving part attached to the screw has a plastic part. So it's not going to scrape the paint off my mic stand, like the other one I had. Yay! As to sound quality, I'm using this with an MXL V67 large capsule condenser mic, which has a mesh pop guard as part of the mic shell. I placed this pop filter about 2 inches further away from the mic itself. As a total system, I get absolutely no pop or sibilant noises in the recording, even when I'm facing directly at the mic. Perfect! I'm very satisfied with this pop guard.
