I’m looking for a bag to run to the gym. Will this hold a towel, bathing suit, and flip flops?

I wear it to bike to the beach and have managed to stuff a full beach towel and bike U-lock in the large compartment (without bladder), plus goggles, swimming cap, phone, keys, gels etc. It's tight but this bag holds a shocking amount of stuff.

Does it rub on your sides? The current one I have rubbed me raw on my side and middle of my lower back.
