Great book
Really enjoyed reading this. Gabrielle Union tackles some really topical and difficult issues in a way that both entertains and gives food for thought. She is brutally honest at times and as the reader, I found myself wondering whether I could or would be just as open and honest about the events in my own life and whilst I'd like to think I would, I don't think I could be as candid. So for me, it illustrates how honest and open she strives to be.The book at different times makes you both laugh and want to cry. Her language is surprisingly rather fruity at times and her pain regarding not having children is palpable. Ms Union is open about her life and her insights are worthwhile especially regarding the real experiences of black actors in the world of entertainment. It is one I'd like my daughters to read! Well done Ms Union, you must be very brave and strong to put so much of yourself out there!

Brutally Honest
I've read a lot of actors biographies over the years and I thought I would never find a biography that was better than Whoopi's "Book" or Michael J Fox's "Lucky Man", but this biography was by far the best one I've read in a long time. There were times when I felt uncomfortable with some of the topics at hand, but then I found myself asking the question why it was making me feel uncomfortable and I was able to address this in a way I haven't before when facing something uncomfortable. I'm so proud of Gabrielle Union for being honest and not writing a biography to cater to the masses. Over and over and over again I've been told that vulnerability is a strength and to live in your truth and this certainly rings true. Thank you Gabrielle for writing something so real and not feeding people bull$hit just to sell a book.

Honest about everything
Gabrielle is extremely candid in this book which takes us through her formative years before becoming a self help book of sorts, punctuated with funny, sad and thought-provoking anecdotes.I liked the conversational tone of the book although at times it bordered on too "spoken", and was too blasé in some places.Overall it was an easy read, and gives us a gently warts-and-all insight into someone who has punctuated much of the black entertainment experience for many years.

Just fab
This book is an absolute page turner. Very well written. I have always been a fan of Gabrielle Union (Nickie). It’s amazing how she was able to write so rawly about her past. What I love the most is that she did not sugarcoat anything. Said it as it is and more important, confirmed she has blood running through her veins and isn’t another box standard celebrity where everything is perfect in their life!

I was surprised!
Great read, I read this book all in one day. For most part, the book had some funny stories and also some sad ones. The ending really brought home , how busy we can all get with life. It's really a good read , and it's inspiring how open and courageous she is with her story, what can I say, but thank you Nikie for sharing your story with us!

Amazing!
I really enjoyed reading this book. I am a big Gab fan and I feel like I know her a bit better after reading this book. I love her realness and truthfulness. Her humour is amazing. She has been through so much and yet she is still going strong. I am an even bigger fan now.

Wow just wow
I could not put this book down. There was so much feelings and fears that I could relate to. But so much positives that it gave me hope for better things ahead. Highly recommended

It was ok
I do like Gabrielle Union but I've always seen her as miss 'white girl' niceness. You know the girl who always looked down on others. I think this book, her true story, proved that right. However, this review is not to hate but to congratulate her on seeing herself for how she really is.

Great read
As if I needed another reason to love this woman! This book is funny, raw, emotional, shocking, sad, and completely brilliant. It takes a lot of bravery and a heavy dose of humility to lay yourself and your story bare like this but boy did she go there. In the end the result is an amazingly educational read into the experience of a young black woman torn between two realities and all of the experiences that came with both that helped shape her into the strong, brilliant woman she is today.

Worth the purchase
I’m a bigger fan for having read this. It’s an honest and real page-turner with lessons to spare. Grateful that she shared all she did. I felt like I was talking to my best friend while drinking our wine.

Gabrielle Union is so honest and hilarious in this book as she talks about her childhood, growing up, infertility, breakups and make ups . It is well written and such an easy read, I read it on the train to workand would often burst out laughing.

Wonderful read
I felt like I was hanging out with a friend and talking about life. There's an intelligence in her writing that makes the difficult and serious/intense topics easier to get through. Great read.
