Clever idea, easy build, nice sawhorses
These have been working great for me. I took care to use lumber that fit the holes (no PTL), and had no trouble assembling them and installing screws to tighten it down. I can see how it would be possible to break the plastic while installing the lumber; take care. The tolerances are tight so the thing isn't flimsy when you're done putting it together. If you can make a square cut in a 2x4, they'll come out nice and solid. The lower braces don't seem like they would be able to support as much weight by themselves as the top. I had no trouble with the hardware (breaking screws, etc) but this depends on the lumber you have (you might have to drill pilot holes). I regret not painting the lumber black like another reviewer did because they would look so suave. I would not recommend leaving the cross-braces unattached for easier storage - the sawhorse will stand but it will not be anywhere near as sturdy. Wobbly would be one word that springs to mind. However, they can be stacked.

Excellent solid product.
I used 1 pair of the 2x4 Basics Sawhorse brackets during construction of a stand for a free standing jigsaw made by my father-in-law. Thanks to the 2x4Basics Sawhorse brackets, the stand is very solid and does not walk across the floor during operation of the jigsaw. The flat orientation of the upper and lower 2x4s was a plus, allowing for easy bolting of the jigsaw to the upper 2x4 and easy bolting of a storage shelf to the lower 2x4. See photo. Because this product comes with 4 brackets (2 pairs of two) a son-in-law who also has one of these jigsaws will be getting 2 brackets so he can easily make a good solid stand, too. I am certain this product would also make a great set of sawhorses. Use quality 2x4s for a solid easy assembly.

Good for the money
So these brackets are injection molded plastic, but don't let that deter you. For the money, you end up with very sturdy sawhorses. They are easy to assemble. The bad parts about them is that they injection molding is done pretty medium. You'll have to spend a bit of time with an Xacto knife cleaning up edges and stuff, but assuming you have straight lumber, it appears everything fits well. Also, since they are all assembled and screwed together, they are a bit awkward to store. I used to have metal bracket ones that folded up, but I felt they were a bit weak. So trade in some convenience for more sturdiness.

I wanted sturdy sawhorses
now I have the sturdy sawhorses I wanted. I already have the lightweight plastic folding sawhorses, but sometimes I need a sturdier surface, and I have it now. I used pressure treated lumber that was pretty wet (from treatment, not from water). While I let the wood sit out in the sun for a day, I was anxious to proceed with my project. It took a LOT of pounding with my rubber mallet to get the wood into the brackets. It was a tight fit that sometimes seemed impossible. But this old lady kept at it and appreciates that as the wood shrinks, the horses should stay tight. Measuring the wood was more nerve-wracking than cutting with my circular saw (I never can remember how I should allow for the kerf). I was quite pleased with the quality of the included screws. They are strong and had no trouble pushing hard with my drill to insert them. It seems that when screws come with a product, they are junky and the heads spin right off. However, these were strong and have nice deep Philips style heads. I also have the 2x4Basics bench brackets, constructed a couple years ago, and those have held up well, outdoors, so I hope these sawhorses do as well since they will live outdoors.

Fitment sucks
Very excited to get these for my shop. It's a great concept and has much potential. However, no where did I read in instructions I would need to plane these 2x4s to fit. I used standard lumber from home depot, added some red stain the wouldn't really add any thickness to the boards. I had to pound each 2x4 in using a runner mallet. Took me about 5 mins to pound each leg in. Crazy. I measured the opening for the 2x4 and it's just under 3 1/2" even after I trimmed all the excess plastic off. Cant squeeze a 3 1/2" 2x4 into a hole smaller than 3 1/2 opening. Broke everyone of the brackets. Sooo disappointed. I mean 1/16th inch bigger opening and these would be flawless. Or at least warn me to plane the boards or run them over a table saw. I bought 6 of these and these and already stained all the boards. Now I gott shave em and reapply stain.

Good & Solid Brackets, Just Take Your Time
After reading several reviews regarding cracking and leftover flashing on some orders, I was hesitant to purchase these. Decided to go ahead and give it a shot anyway. The flashing from the mold process was there in a few spots, but nothing that the 2x4 pieces didn't easily push through. All the hardware is there to make the sawhorses and the directions were pretty straight forward. I especially like the little plastic feet that come with the set. They keep the 2x4 ends off the ground and that is a nice touch. All in all, the 2x4's slid into the brackets with ease and total build time for two sawhorses was about 30-45 minutes. That includes dragging out the miter saw, cutting the lumber, and screwing all the pieces into the brackets. If there is some left over flashing, just take your time and push through it. Glad I decided to go forward with these brackets. They make for some very sturdy and solid sawhorses.

Solidly Build But My Set Too Tight For 2 x 4s
I bought these for a specific weekend project. However the 2 x 4 legs needed too much material shaved off to fit. I started but would have spent valuable time shaving wood with a rasp that I planned to spend on the project. I have a wood plane but could not find it. My Power sander belt gave up within minutes. After that I just found another method for my task. And Though I later did another 20 minutes of sanding after letting the 2 x 4s dry out, I have yet to get the first leg to fit. Considering that I need 8 legs shaved, I wonder if this will ever see use. Also what happens if legs swell after getting wet? Will they split this material???

I was able to build one sawhorse without any problems - however the second one was a disaster. The brackets did not fit the lumber and nothing would allow them to slide in. Even gentle tapping resulted in the plastic breaking. What a disappointment. I'm concerned about how these will stand up over time and with general carpentry use. Fortunately I ordered an extra pair of brackets (I miscounted on my order) so I was able to salvage one set to complete my pair. But there are still breaks in the plastic. I discovered that the ONLY way to get the boards to slide into the slots is to belt sand them down first. Then it worked better. These brackets should be made of thicker resin and made slightly bigger to fit a standard 2x4. The screws and hardware will ensure a stable finished product.

Price has doubled in a short time. Two saw horses are now well over $100 when you add in lumber.

A very simple low cost way to build sturdy sawhorses. The assembly of the feet was tricky, because of what was right and left in relation to the bracket. Once on, the feet are a good addition and help stabilize the saw horse. Predrilling is essential to get the longer screws in.
