The Boy with the Butterfly Mind (Kelpies)

Compelling .
Brilliant and powerful story. It explores the complications, highs and lows of fragmented and blended families and of children growing up trying to make sense of these huge changes Both Jamie and Elin's stories feel real, relevant and engage the reader completely. The dual narrative style gives the reader the ability to have huge empathy with both characters even as they lock horns with each other . Jamie's story really opens the reader's eyes to the emotional strain that children with ADHD must be under and is an excellent representation of the way in which their actions can be misconstrued. Elin's story too, of the desire to be perfect in every way ,was equally as moving and compelling to read . This is not only an excellent and enjoyable book but also a very meaningful one that I think a great deal of it's young readers will find the comfort of seeing themselves reflected in.

Wow!!
What a fabulous read, a beautiful story showing two characters vividly to the reader. I have recommended to my class and already devoured another Victoria Williamson book as a result.

Ten stars!
Words cannot express how special this book is to me. It was recommended by my son's P7 teacher. He's something of a reluctant reader and has been struggling a bit this year. He's staying with his Dad this week so we have read the book together via video call. We started it three nights ago. Last night, my son couldn't put it down so read ahead on his own till goodness knows what time and today he finished it. I've just played catch up and it's safe to say we both thoroughly enjoyed it. He would like to give it ten stars and I'm inclined to agree! Victoria Williamson writes beautifully for a young market. Themes include blended families, bullying, ADHD, acceptance and letting go of anger. There are some truly invaluable lessons wrapped up in a really accessible and enjoyable story. We highly recommend this book!

Excellent book
This book was very engaging from the start. The characters are thoughtfully and sensitively portrayed and resonate with the sorts of experiences children have to deal with.
