Awesome tool. I do not know how long will it last, but it is very nice to have wireless soldering iron during commissioning of different equipment.

Easily worth 40$!
Great deal for 40$ , the cable is a bit stiff but swap it for some 4 core silicone wire and Its👌. 4ah battery lasts forever, and it has easy access to different tips hakka tips are interchangeable. It heats up crazy fast. People say that if you leave them on for long periods, that my be true but I will bet 97% of those all that's wrong is there is a thermal fuse in the iron. You can simply replace it of use a peice of wire im it's place if your not worried about it ! A few YouTube videos of it out there. So if your comfortable with opening it up to replace the stiff pvc cable with some silicone wire its an awesome little tool.

Great Soldering Iron
My old portable butane soldering iron finally stopped working. I purchased the Ryobi 18 volt soldering iron and I'm very pleased with its operation. I can dial up the heat range I need and in a minute or two it's ready. It will even warn you when it is cooled down and safe to store it.

Portable soldering...I'll take one
This was a great addition to my Ryobi tool collection.Something general about Ryobi. NO, it's not top of the line from a tool perspective. There are better choices, which if you work in construction or use these tools extensively, you may be better off with. BUT if you're an average user of tools, say a few to several times per month, Ryobi is a fine choice. Now specific to the Soldering Iron: It's portable. I had to do some stuff in my truck and didn't want to be dealing with an extension cord. This tool was GREAT! It was easy to set down where I needed it, it was easy to control the temperature, it was was safe and provided a worry-free usage. It just works, and for 90% of average users will work for them, too.The one drawback - and I have this issue with ALL devices that use color indicators is I couldn't tell for sure if the unit was cool and okay to move around. I wasn't for sure if the device was even off. This is because the indicators are red/green and I'm colorblind. (Reminder, there is a very large percentage of colorblind men). Anyway, because it wasn't clear if the device was off or cool, I resorted to popping out the battery just to make sure I didn't accidentally start a fire on something. While it might be my issue, it would be nice if there were a on/off toggle switch on the unit instead of a press button with color indicators.

A toolbox addition that just makes sense when you're invested in 18V One+ batteries
This is a very inexpensive way to get a high quality soldering iron for electronic repairs (e.g., connectors, wire splices, broken wires.). It's also very helpful to have a soldering iron without a cord - works out of the box, and where you need to work. I've had it for a week and very quickly tidied up repairs made with twisted wires throughout my summer house - good solder connections mean safety, better charging and improved reliability. Highly recommended.

Now my go-to soldering iron.
This thing kicks butt. It has fine control tip for circuit board work, and enough power to add heavy solder traces for high amperage. If you go high power on this iron, you will need to swap 6ah batteries often... about every 40 minutes at 700 degrees.

Works well
Used a few times now. Heats up fairly quickly. Convenience or portability. Easy to find extra tips (uses T18 Soldering Tips, same as Hakko FX-888).
