Updated Review: I was recently contacted by Nq's customer service in respect to my original review - which is quite a pleasant surprise. I discussed the issue what I was having with the dock and so far it seems that it could have been just been defective. Either way, their team seems to be interested in figuring out what is going on and doing testing on their end - which means this is a company that cares about their products. Judging from this experience, I would recommend them just from their customer service alone. It's rare to find a company that cares about what they sell nowadays. Original review: I bought this dock for three reasons: 1. Clips to the Steam Deck. 2. Portable with included microSD (TF) slot. 3. Compact design fits in my JSAUX case which has a compartment in the bottom. So the pros: 1. Compact design. 2. MicroSD/TF card slot for extra storage space. 3. Kickstand is pretty solid. 4. Includes USB 3.0 ports and HDMI. Cons: 1. This thing overheats when charging, causing the Steam Deck to eject/remove the microSD card. It also flakes out the USB ports. 2. Not sure yet but the HDMI flakes out sometimes and I am fairly certain it's due to the overheating issue. 3. The transfer rate from an internal Sandisk Extreme microSD to a Samsung Evo microSD card (in the dock) is incredibly slow and the disconnects are infuriating. I love the design and look of this dock but it caused my Steam Deck to stop booting correctly, requiring a reimaging of my Steam Deck to get it working again (not sure if it was an update or overheating). I will give this thing another week of trial and possibly return it but so far I am not impressed due to the issues with the HDMI and microSD slot being flakey.

Changing my review. First one I got didn't work at all, even when plugged in. NewQ reached out and offered a replacement at no charge. I was still worried after seeing some other reviews, but it actually works really well and is exactly what I wanted. Now I have 3TB for my Deck without having to be docked. On top of that, I can wire into Ethernet with a USB 3 to Ethernet adapter and still have a USB slot open for my keyboard/mouse combo. The main thing I wanted was the SD slot though, as there's not a lot of viable options for extra portable storage without jury-rigging some stuff. From what I understand, it's more feasible to use a second SD card over an external m2. Looks like I'm getting full speed too, from the SD slot and the USB ports. Pretty awesome dock. I don't have much use for an HDMI port since I already have an actual desktop, but maybe it'd be cool to play couch co-op outside the house or something instead of having to lug a desktop around.

Wonderful way to add on extra functionality to the device and works most of the time. I can plug in one USB device, say a mouse, but the second another USB device is plugged in it drops all connection and the USB-C needs to be reconnected. Frustrating when I need to swap from using a keyboard to a flash drive, I need to juggle USB plugins to get it working properly. Charging is also hit-and-miss where the white light comes on to note charging but goes off if the cable is touched at all. Same thing with plugging in charging while devices are in the USB ports. Everything drops out and the USB-C connection needs to be reconnected. The device's shape and function are out of the way of everything and I really wish it worked without flaw. Update 5/28/23: NewQ support contacted me to try and rectify the issue, and sent me a new unit. Some small issues remain with the new unit, now when removing power during operation of the two USB slots being used, it loses connection with the devices. When plugging back in and after waiting about five seconds, it works as normal. It seems I'm experiencing the opposite of other reviewers. I will use it in it's current state, since it is less flawed than the original. I updated my review from 2 stars to 4. If it starts to mess up again I will update my review again in the future.

I bought the Rokid Max AR glasses for my steam deck. Along with a few other items I am now able to charge the Steam Deck in this dock's USB-C port while using the HDMI port and an adapter to operate the Rokid AR glasses. As a plus this dock snaps onto the Steam Deck and has a small stand. The stand doesn't work so well in my lap since it would need to be wider and I had a rubber protector on the Steam Deck that I had to cut out a spot for this dock to fit. I leave it on the Steam Deck now as it's very light and has a slim profile. I wish it had an ethernet port though I'm trying to use one of the USB ports for that purpose.

I've had no problems with this at all. Stand if sturdy enough that it can hold the steam deck, all the ports work. My only thing is, it does fit in the original steam deck case, but it's a very snug fit and not everyone might be comfortable with it. Edit: I have now noticed that I am having to unplug and replug it when using the usb and usbc. They don't always connect. I am trying to find a way to contact them. Will update again if I manage to.

Je ne connaissait pas la marque jusqu'à cet achat, j'avais donc une certaine méfiance à l'achat. Je trouvais cependant le concept sympa, j'ai donc sauté le pas, quitte à renvoyer le produit si ça se révélait décevant. Et... je suis mitigé. C'est vrais que je concept est très sympathique, mais l'objet en lui-même a quelques gros défaut. Pour commencer, la coque est 100% plastique. De ce fait, elle transmet très bien les vibrations du ventilateur à la surface sur laquelle elle est posée. Cela se traduit pas par un son qui, sur certains surfaces, peut être désagréable. Il aurait pourtant suffit de mettre des pads en caoutchouc et ça aurait été bien mieux. Deuxième mauvais point, c'est le choix douteux du port microsd. Le fait qu'elle ne puise pas être utilisé en même temps que le lecteur intégré à la Steam Deck est certes une limitation de cette dernière plus que du constructeur, ce slot ne sert littéralement à rien. J'aurais largement préféré troisième port usb (même 2.0), qui aurait été bien plus utile que ça. Je vais tout de même l'utiliser une petite semaine, histoire de voir si cette première impression mitigée s'améliore avec le temps, et je modifierais ce commentaire en conséquences.

Aber gute Neuigkeiten: Seit dem neuesten Steam OS update (Steam OS 3.5.5 vom 17.11.2023) lassen sich externe Speicher auch im Gaming Mode nutzen. (D.h. auch die Anleitung bezüglich microSDs oben in der Artikelbeschreibung kann ignoriert werden - der Slot kann jetzt genau wie der Intergrierte benutzt werden) Habe gerade RDR2 gestartet (microSD extern plus Monitor und Strom) und alles läuft flüssig. Den anderen Reviews nach zu urteilen habe ich scheinbar Glück gehabt: Mein Dock funktioniert problemlos ohne externe Stromversorgung. Nach kurzen Tests mit der microSD im Gaming Mode musste ich aber leider feststellen, dass jedes Mal, wenn ich das Stromkabel wieder herausgezogen habe, die Karte scheinbar neu gemounted wird und deshalb das Spiel (RDR2 in meinem Test) keine Daten mehr nachladen kann (also neu gestartet werden muss). Das Stromkabel bei laufendem Spiel anzuschließen funktioniert verrückterweise aber problemlos. Insgesamt: Top Produkt mit verblüffend gutem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.
