I have used this product for around two months since my local barber began to stock it, and I used it on each of my appointments and liked the result it gave. I have used various textured powders over the years, from those found at drug stores that are still well-known brands to those priced £20+, thinking they’d be better (waste your they’re no better than the cheaper alternatives just because they’re priced higher the ultimately perform the same..well, almost). This includes the well-known mid-range brand Slick Gorilla (which I wasn’t a fan of and don’t get the hype around it), which is now similarly priced to Bang Powder. My hair is naturally straight with no movement; it’s lifeless without using any salt spray, powder or some styling or through using a hairdryer to give it more volume. Unfortunately, I couldn’t repurchase it this time, as when it’s in stock for customer purchase, it flies off the shelves if you’re not quick. My current hairstyle is around 0.5″ texture cut (all marginally different lengths on the top to give a little kick to my naturally straight hair without needing to use a mass amount of product to achieve) and slightly over 1″ on the fringe and grade zero fade sides and back.In my reviews, I separate into three categories, pro, med and con, for ease of reading and to allow the reader to focus on a particular area and try to answer any questions I had before purchasing before concluding whether I would/wouldn’t recommend this product at the end in the conclusion section. However, I can only base this on the product I received, which doesn’t mean the quality will be consistent or share the same experience. The current reviews aren’t detailed and, honestly, a little questionable in their validity and honesty, which can easily be determined based on the number of reviews they have submitted… and for this product only. So here’s a review you can trust, as I’ve taken the time and have used the product for months. You can look at my previous reviews on my profile to validate the authenticity of all my previous reviews going back years and a mass amount of helpfulness votes.Pro:____* Packaging is undoubtedly unique and easily distinguishable from the other products I have in my bathroom unit.* It leaves a natural, non-greasy finish if the correct amount is used and not applied excessively. Using 2-3 quick shakes is sufficient to achieve my style without looking matted or greasy, and it washes out easily and in one go without leaving any residue. It’s trial and error to determine what amount will work for your natural hair texture, style and length. Applying too much while it won’t make your hair look greasy; it certainly feels tacky to the touch. It’s best to gradually build the product and work with the least possible amount possible. Once you are familiar with the amount, it’s easy not to apply too much and know how much/little works best for you.* Of course, this will be subjective to one use, but I do not apply it daily as mentioned below; understandably, 20g doesn’t sound a lot, but this is the standard amount across the board, but due to myself not needing to use much product and the frequency of which that I use it, it generally lasts me around six weeks which I cannot complain about though I do wish they’d break the mould in the future and offer larger sizes which would be massively separate them more from other brands.* Use a texture comb to add that extra texture and adds more than your fingers alone can not always do, and this powder works well without pulling or snapping the hair that other haven’t worked well with and done precisely that; Slick Gorilla, which I already own. Although it serves its purpose and works well, it is massively overpriced for what it is (you are essentially paying for the branding). There are far better, reasonably priced alternatives that are almost identical in design without the branding, which I have also tried that work equally. If it is essential that it has to be a brand, then sure, go ahead, though you’ll most likely regret it due to the actual quality of it. I got a variety pack of 10 instead (one of which is identical in design) for less than it costs for one SG branded.Med:____* This powder, like most brands, contains silica as an ingredient. Silica is a desiccant that can dry out the hair; it’s not a product I would recommend for everyday use. I have mainly used it when I have weekly nights out or an important meeting at work where I need to look more put together and presentable. I have tried using it daily to test how it would perform, and as expected, my hair felt drier than usual. However, this is the same result as my previous brand and others I have used.* While it is reworkable, it has its limitations. You can’t go from flat but still textured to height and volume. as mentioned above, of my current hairstyle if I want to have the fringe downwards. Then later decided to change it up a little for heading out right after work to a more quiff style. It doesn’t work well; reworking too much or often can make the hair look messy. Think bed head scenario…. as long as your style doesn’t differ too much; it works well to make minor alterations. However, I must point out that it is not as messy as my previous brand, which would also make my hair static, which hasn’t happened with this during my use.Con:____* Applying to the hands and working into the hair is more effective than sprinkling directly. I need to be mindful and apply gradually as too much in one go can make the hair feels greasy (although it doesn’t look it) and more challenging to work in than just sitting on the top. When finished or anytime you rework, you must wash your hands after and thoroughly as it can leave a film on the fingers that can only be removed with soap without residue that water alone won’t remove. If you plan to keep your style throughout the entire day until evening without the need to fix areas that may have lost their original style position, then id highly recommend finishing with a light-hold matte spray or a pre-styler salt spray to minimise any retouches and keep it in place all day.Conclusion________So would I recommend it? While it has its limitations regarding reworkability, as mentioned above, as do other brands, id usually remove a star, which is redeemed due to the fact Bang Powder is one of the best to achieve it with minor adjustments only without looking messy with minor adjustments, nor looking greasy or becoming static mid styling, unlike others that have done the opposite (even the more pricy purchases). It’s one that I would happily and highly recommend giving it a try as long as the formulation isn’t changed in the future, as when this is done, it’s not always for the better; then, I’ll continue to purchase, possibly not from Amazon though as hopefully the next time I’m back in my barbers in a few weeks, it’ll be back in stock there and have asked for one to be put aside. If, like me, you’ve tried countless others and are sick of having to wash your hair after application as it looks awful. Then give this a go. I can assure you you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

WOW!This hair product is phenomenal I have never used something so amazing for styling my hair to the desired look I am after. The product is so good as it is stong enough to keep in place all day yet is malleable enough to be restyled with just a little ruffle of your hair. I have tried so many other hair powders and clay and I have to say bang powder takes the win every time. If you are looking for a hair product to ensure your hair is always on point bang powder is the one to keep in your arsenal. I cannot recommend enough!!!

Great product, give your hair such a natural look with loads of texture

As a barber I recommend this product!!! It is great for styling long hair and crop tops!On more than 1 occasion it has opened in my bag and spilt everywhere!As with all powders you need to use alot to get the desired result. This tub is a good size should last you a while!(Even if you do spill a load in your bag)

Bought this product with no reviews so was sceptical as it was the same price range as it’s competitors but the bottle was so different and unique.Was absolutely not disappointed upon arrival. The powder is light but gives a strong hold and with easy application. The bottle is like nothing else I’ve ever seen, looks even better in person. Packaging for the product also top quality.Would buy again!

I’ll admit it I bought this because I thought it looked cool but regretted it as soon as I used it. it has no smell and leaves hair feeling greasy as opposed to other brands that smell great and have a matte finish. If you want something with a strong hold and a matte finish i’d recommend looking elsewhere
