Great little smoke alarm.
Just received it today and set up went great.I noticed the video reviews when i was purchasing but im not sure those people understand how fire alarms work. There is a photo sensor inside them and when a certain percentage of light is blocked out the alarm goes off. One guy had no smoke, and the other guy had a tiny stream outdoors. Its hard to get smoke alarms to go off outdoors unless there is heavy smoke. Dissipates too fastTook the smoke alarm to unfinished part of basement (my workshop) so i could test with a cigarette. This way i could easily exhaust fumes with fan when done.Lit up cigarette and began setting it up. Alarm went off unexpectedly. Wasnt even blowing into it. Then after set up i blew smoke in and it went off. They work great.Reason they go off so easy in kitchen is because smoke from food & grease contains large particles which block the sensor easier, so try not to set up directly over stove.Love this alarm. You can invite up to 12 family members to be connected, so everyone will get the alarm notification, even if theyre not in the house, as long as your wifi is working.Alarm has a volume level too, which is cool. Its pretty loud even when not up all the way. Of course you should definitely have them up all the way.Its small too. Can easily be palmed. Very easy to mount with 2 screws that come included. They use a CR123A battery (as opposed to 2 AA batteries which is normal in U.S.). So id order a few CR123A, because you probably dont have them lying around. Id also suggest buying a better brand, as this one is already down a bar.Definitely going to order more of these alarms, and some batteries

Great little fire alarm with app
Even after seeing the measurements online, I was shocked at how tiny this smoke detector is. Don't let size fool you though, it's loud! It's easy to install and I like being able to connect to the app to make sure everything is running ok or to get notified of any problems. I haven't had the fire alarms go off yet (thankfully) but we've got the water leak detectors in the basement and they've worked perfectly so I would expect the same from the smoke detectors. I'll be ordering more of these detectors or the combo ones with carbon monoxide detection as well for the rest of the house.

Notifies your phone
This thing is so small yet works. I like that it's connected to my phone. I worry something will happen when I'm not home and won't know. I had it go off once from my wood fireplace and it worked. It beeps and notifies your phone. It was easy to install.

Connects Through Your Network to Cellphone App to Alert You...
I've lived in my house for some fifteen years. The house is a forty year old house and who knows how old the original detector is (it's hard wire but looks old). Bought two X-Sense smart smoke detectors to further digitally enhance my house as I'm away from the house for work, errands and family. In hindsight I should've done this years ago, as we'll spring for cameras, doorbells and security systems that alert some app on our phone but we don't think about a smart smoke detector???I'm very pleased with these detectors. They came ready to go and are easily mounted, although I do think the mounting screws could be longer to get through the plaster on your ceiling or wall and find some real purchase to screw into. The app is straight forward and it was very easy to get them on my network and set up.I like they'll report low battery (they'll also chirp) and report a malfunction through the app as we all know n many of us never look at these things until something happens and our detector failed to go off.In testing some paper I set on fire, with a bucket and some water to throw it into, it alerted well enough and started a racket on my phone to get my attention. Being able to silence it from my phone is nice as the one in my kitchen I can't reach without a chair or ladder should cooking set it off.Would appreciate being able to see some kind of status in the app. App tells me each is online but doesn't show me a status. Can only assume they're self checking and if one malfunctions it'll report through the app. Would also like to initiate a regular test through the app (which I may have missed how to do) as I'll have to pull out and stand in a chair each month for the one in the kitchen. But all in all they're really good little devices and at some forty dollars each there's really no excuse to not have a few scattered around your house rather than just relying on the one your house came with that got stuck somewhere. Double that no excuse when you consider they'll alert to an app on your phone, so if everyone is away you won't have to depend upon your neighbors happening to notice smoke finding its way out of your house by which time you've got a pretty good fire going. You'll know right away and be able to call for help and perhaps because of the quicker response you'll be dealing with a small fire pit out before too much if any damage vs a raging inferno.I've purchased two and will probably purchase two more, for garage and attic. Oh and I placed one X-Sense detector next to the original detector that came with the house, I suspect it's some forty years old. In testing after set up both the X-Sense and the original house detector went off. Still after forty years the thing works, but it isn't smart and it's better to be safer than sorry.
