Barfly Heavy Duty Spring Bar Strainer, Stainless Steel

I didnt expect to love this one! When i use this i dont need another strainer i just use this one because it gets all the small ice, mint leaves etc! Even the egg whites!

I ordered this after I got sick of using a fine mesh strainer alongside my crummy free hawthorne strainer to keep out ice chips. To my delight, this does a very good job at keeping out those pesky small ice chips without having to whip out extra equipment!Just for that I think the cleaning process is justified. It's relatively easy to just pull off the spring and wash it separately, just don't lose the spring. I have ordered a second spring from barfly to double up on this strainer, which is what I did with the old hawthorne I had. The main reason I got this one is the greater control on pours, whether you want to do so gated, partially gated, or open, its so easy you dont even have to think about it.

Had this strainer for 5 years and recently got a new one to replace it. Absolutely love it!! Definitely holds up to the fast work pace I have.

Excellent construction quality and easy to clean.This variant sort of combines the attributes of a modern wire strainer and a julep type strainer, while it's perfectly functional and very well built, I don't think it adds any special capability over a Hawthorne with ears and may actually be a bit harder to manipulate with some tins or glasses.I think most people will find a modern strainer pattern that sits on top of the mixing glass easier to use.

This cocktail strainer was a perfect fit for the shaking tins (as it should be seeing as they are both from barfly). The strainer is easy to use one handed. Cleaning is simple especially if you clean it before anything has a chance to dry. I tend to be a bit too aggressive and get pieces of sponge stuck in the spring. However should you need to remove the spring it's an easy task. Reattaching the spring is simple as the guide is immensely helpful. I purchased the vintage set and so far couldn't be happier.
