Cheap and abundant, but reliable and easy to use/install
This smoke alarm is cheap and abundant (this model is available pretty much everywhere, and I now have 8 of them around my home), and it works great. Whenever we open our oven after burning something, it goes off :)Installation is easy (just pop off the mounting plate, screw it into your ceiling (preferred) or a wall (okay, but not always as good), and then install battery and twist the smoke detector to secure it to the plate.Make sure you read the instructions when placing the smoke alarm--if you place it in the wrong area of a room or house, you risk taking extra time to detect an active fire. Every minute counts!

Nice Smoke alarm
Purchased 2 of these to replace very old ones we had in our mobile home. I like the fact that it is a good bit smaller than our old ones making it a little less noticeable on the ceiling. Worked just fine straight out of the package. I know some of said that the battery did not work that is supplied with the alarm. I guess it can be hit or miss as far as the battery goes. It's the same with any product you purchase that has batteries included. So don't let the fact that some say the battery is dead. Batteries for this are not all the expensive.

Be sure you want the small size
I got a few of these to replace some 10 year old ones. I thought smaller would be better- the problem was that the holes and anchors in the ceiling did not match up with these. So you have to drill new holes, which is not ideal. Also, under your current smoke alarm may not be painted, or painted a different color- so putting up this smaller one can leave you with a visible ring around it.

Good, economical smoke alarms
This alarms are exactly the same as the ones I bought 10 years ago. They worked well the entire time and I only replaced them because of the requirement to replace them every ten years. I was even able to use the same mounting plates so I didn't have to drill new holes. They are a compact shape and very loud. I'd recommend them to anyone.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT & VALUE
I bought (6) of these for use throughout the houseTested each, and they all operated correctly. (push-to-test button also included)9V battery included., with low battery "chirp" indicator.Easy 5 minute installationVery small in size (4") and l.e.d. light flashes only once every 40 seconds. Not even noticable."Hush" feature is also great when you have an accidental alarm, such as burned popcorn, etc. (verified this)Allows you to press the button and silence the alarm for 40 seconds, until smoke can be dissipated.Very satisfied with these detectors, and only $8 each. They are said to last 10 years, then need to be replaced.(these are not available at Home Depot)

Basic model works really well
Really basic model but works great. Ito super sensitive. I know Mom's not supposed to smoke in the house. Well it rat me out! I want something that is sensitive and will detect smoke. The price is unbelievable. I highly recommend

This unit was originally recommended during a housing dept
This unit was originally recommended during a housing dept. inspection so I replaced my 20 year old units with several of these. The Inspector said that smoke detectors loose their sensing capabilities after about 10 years. After my neighbor's home burned to the ground (they only had 1 smoke detector and that saved their lives) I have now installed a number of these throughout my home. They are easy to install and provide a visible indicator (blinking light) that the battery is still good. When it is necessary to replace the battery an audible "chirp" sounds repeatedly until the old battery is removed. Replacing the battery is very easy. The safety and piece of mind from having this simple device guarding our home is great.

Why you shouldn't buy this product. A true story
Had this for a few months thinking that it would help protect the house from burning down. As tested it worked fine when first received, and my mind was at ease.Note that this smoke alarm was located within 5 feet of our downstairs kitchen. One unfortunate night my father had left the stove on with food still cooking which would later catch on fire and produce enormous amounts of smoke. We were all asleep and rather than having the alarm tip us off, the smell did.My grandfather sleeps extremely close to where the fire originated and if we had not woken up in time, I'm not sure what our standing would be.As an investment in your home and family's safety please don't buy something that could very well save your life based on how little it costs compared to others.Based on the seller's attitude towards the return policy and how indifferent they were to the situation, I wouldn't be surprised if an future or former customers come with the same problems.Just don't let it cost you your home or life.
