Burley Hitch Flex Connector

I selected the "round" option for my use. I have an old Avenir bike trailer which I had bought secondhand. It originally came with a crappy hitch that clamped directly to the chainstay and didn't work very well. Weighing my options, it looked like the Burley steel hitch was the only one to clear the eyelets on my Giant's unusual dropouts, so I tried this system out. I was able to bolt it directly to the trailer, and when paired with the steel hitch on my bike, had no trouble at all. It's a little finicky to get installed at first, due to the elastomer's flex, but getting the old one off was about the same. Note that Burley and Avenir/Raleigh probably don't endorse such a combination, but it worked great for me. The elastomer is about 21.5mm in diameter. This fit my trailer's drawbar just right, which has an inner diameter of 23mm. If you need a way to make your old Avenir (or other) trailer more workable, this is the ticket. It is a little on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. The quality makes up for it. I'd definitely recommend.

I purchased this along with the "standard" hitch to replace the "classic" hitch for a 10-year-old Burley trailer to easily switch the trailer between my and my wife's new bikes without being hard on the rear frame and paint. Pros: One-time installation on the trailer is easy. It works solidly and silently with the standard Burley hitch. It spares your frames and paint from the wear and tear of the classic hitch. Con: Repeat installation to the standard hitch is a bit awkward as a bike with the kickstand down will be tilted and this tow arm requires a vertical position to insert the linchpin. It takes a little bit of wiggle and effort (including holding the bike up off the kickstand) to get the pin in. Overall: A good alternative to buying a new trailer for those with older trailer models.

We have an XTerra trailer we purchased at Costco because we simply can't afford a high end one. However, my biggest complaint was the clamp on the XTerra. Not only did it scratch the heck out of our paint, was hard to use, and regularly came lose, but when I bought a new bike with disc brakes it no longer fit on my bike. This product solved our problems! It's literally a bolt on part...remove the old attachment and spring, slide this in, tighten the nut and it's done. I then ordered two of the Burley hitches, one for each bike: Burley Bicycle Trailer Hitch (Standard, Forged) Best money I ever spent for this trailer. Now my wife and I can move it between bikes with a simply cotter pin. Tows better (no bouncing), easier to attach/detach, and an all around pleasure to use. Bought a used Burley trailer to haul things behind my bicycle. Was pleased to find that Amazon carried the exact connectors I needed. Installation was good as the connector can be used with a variety of bikes. I can leave part of the connector attached to the bicycle, even when not using the trailer.

This review goes with my review for the standard forged trailer hitch. I gave that five stars. I'm only dinging this by one star, simply because I think there could be a better way to offer a secondary hitch connection for backup/safety, other than wrapping a strap around the chain-stay and then clipping it onto a "D" ring. I can't think of a better way myself, but there has to be one - as I personally find this way a bit awkward. But the package works well; it is flexible (evidenced by one dropped bike and one flipped trailer on first day of use, and not a mark on the hitch or connector); it fit very well to the round tow arm. I would highly recommend this and the standard forged trailer hitch, if you are looking to upgrade from the original rear-triangle hitch connector, this pair can't be beat.

I purchased this about 9 months ago to replace one on a used burly trailer that I purchased. Not knowing exactly how old the original one was, but understanding that it was more than 7 years old, I wanted to replace it and not take any chances. I use the trailer for pulling about 70 lb of dog behind an e-bike and I was not willing to take any chances for the safety of the dogs, myself, or somebody that a loose trailer might run into. I have not had any issues with breakage or lack of flexibility in the connecting joint, and there are no signs of any stress fractures or wear. Overall I am very happy with the purchase and pleased with the peace of mind it provides.

I have a Kidarooz Bike trailer, Costco sold them at one point and they are made similar to Croozer bike trailers they are a private company by Chariot. I looked at the Thule kit but they said theres wasn't compatible. I read other reviews and forums that said this Burley kit would work and it does! Installation was a breeze regardless in the picture below I had it installed upside down at first. I read instructions after the fact, and fixed it very easily I might add. The diameter of the lollipop (the black rubberry plastic piece is larger then the Thule version which worked out better because it removed the slop in the bar! In the image below it shows my old hinge mount style, to them side by side, then with the new burley connector inside, as well as the incorrectly installed upside down mounted to bike (I did fix it and flipped it so the strap is on top and clips in at bottom!)

I bought this to replace it for my Burley Encore bike trailer and luckily didn't toss out the original bolt, the one that came with the package was too short!

Arrived in a few days. Happy dog.

Just what I needed fits well

Easy to fit, i swapped over to this connection on my bicycle trailer tent to stop it fish tailing when being towed due to the spring in the classic connection being too loose in the tow bar causing the the trailer to fish tail, now the trailer follows in line with my bicycle. reconmend this hitch with any bicycle trailer and safer on the road, have ordered another for my other trailer.
