Easy setup and use!
Very easy setup and use, worked well for my first time doing a rotisserie chicken over my backyard fire pit. Used it for just over an hour and could notice the batteries were drained pretty well, probably won't last for a second use. Battery casing got a bit warm, but only because my stakes had to be inside my pit for how large it is. The rods feel very sturdy and have some good weight to them.

Good Battery Powered Rotisserie
This is a good rotisserie that has great power for a battery operated rotisserie motor. I’ve had an electric rotisserie motor that didn’t have the power of this one. It comes with everything needed… spit rod and forks, bushing, counterweight, standing rods and brackets. Just takes 2 D batteries and it doesn’t seem to drain the batteries a lot. I put 2 very cheap dollar tree batteries and I was able to rotisserie a whole chicken that was approximately 8-10 lbs. and it didn’t completely drain the batteries and it didn’t even slow down. Very satisfied with the purchase so far.

great cooking on fire
My husband and I really love this, We have cooked chicken over a fire in our pit with this rotisserie and we have also cooked steak on the grill over the fire. We love it.

Great for camp cooking!
I found the rotisserie easy to set up and use, and it will run for hours on 2 D cell batteries. The part that holds the motor also acts as a heat shield if properly positioned on the post (I figured that out in my second cook). It is well built and a great value.

Motor Broken Out of the Box
We had this unit boxed up until we could use it. We were really excited to put it together over our burn pit and cook some meat. I installed two new batteries and turned the motor on to find out that it did not work. You could hear the motor inside turning, but I guess gears were stripped because the output shaft would not turn. Because we were beyond the 30-day return window the seller refused to make us whole. Buyer beware that there is a possibility of the motor being broken out of the box.

Motor isn't as strong as advertised
I bought this primarily to use for my Thanksgiving turkey. The description says it has a 20 lb. capacity, but the motor couldn't handle my 17 pounder, even using the counterweight (which doesn't feel all that heavy to me for it's purpose). Glad I had a backup plan. Seems like it would probably work out great with a stronger motor.

Be prepared to babysit it.
We rotisserie'd a 20# turkey with this thing during our big bi-annual camping trip. The setup is pretty simple, but it took quite a bit of fiddling to get it right. Keep in mind that this isn't a fool-proof endeavor: you can't just stick your meat on the stick and let it spin. I doubt such a spit exists. It took a lot of experimentation to get the spit through the turkey as evenly as possible and the counterweight at the right setting. Even then, we had watch it to fix it whenever the turkey worked itself off balance, causing the spit to slip out the motor. Woe be us, being forced to sit around the fire chatting and drinking while only occasionally having to adjust it. As the bird cooked, it firmed up and slipped less and less. In the end, we ended up with a safely-cooked bird with a perfect smoke ring. It was delicious!
