Focuses on the essentials
This book focuses on the reasons why educators tend to always "add on" and never "take away." The author gives reasons, encouragement, and prompts for reflection on the issue of what are we doing that we need to stop doing and why. This message to educators is more important now than ever. It supports the idea that there is no "going back to" and encourages embracing it for a more productive future.

This is the most needed tool/mindset for schools and teachers
This book is going to be one of the most influential books of our time. Not only does DeWitt provide practical tools to de-implement low value practices, he does so in a human way. It is clear his intention is to protect the mental health of teachers while improving the workload. At a time in education where it feels like more has been added to our plates and mental health challenges among teachers and principals is at an all time high, this book is a must read! You will walk away with so many ideas to help yourself as individuals and to help the teams you work with!

Timely!!
Another great book. As a building leader, I am responsible for removing obstacles and getting rid of practices that have little effect on instruction and student learning. Peter also understands how important the culture and climate of a building effects teacher retention. Excellent resource for leaders wanting to transform their practices and focus on what works!

Can put into practice immediately!
So many books are written for leaders about practices to add to our plates. This one does the exact opposite. It contains concrete steps on how and what to focus the de-implementation process upon. Would be a great read for an entire leadership team.

Excellently written about an important topic
DeWitt focuses on the important topic of abandoning low value practices. Not only does he offer research but provides guidance on informal de-implementation and formal de-implementation.This is a really important read.

A practical must read resource for all school leaders
We can all write a list of the things we would like to stop doing. But turning this into action and new habits and practices is the challenge. Peter helps us to reduce the gap between the two in order to create more space in our busy and packed days, weeks and terms for the things that make the biggest difference. A really practical resource.
