This feeder is a dream come true for convenience. when it comes time to clean out the seed compartment or you want to rescue it from an unexpected shower or rain you lift it by the handle leaving the platform in place. If your neighborhood feeder birds are like mine it may take them awhile to trust a new feeder. In fact it is the small birds that brave it first. Then the larger up to the mourning doves and our resident jay find their courage. We have it on a black pole next to a tube feeder. I have high hopes! But even better was the seller who responded to a shipping question and gave me information I had been unable to get from tracking or Amazon. Im sold on both this seller and his product.

This feeder is great....I ordered a second one and it's wonderful as well. Very well built, great quality. The tray has small holes in the bottom for drainage and it works really well...we had heavy rain for a couple of days and it didn't hold any water at all, so the seed dried out right away and the birds ate it up. Chipmunks like it just fine, lol, as they can be on one side of the tray, and the birds can be on the opposite side and everyone gets to eat.This feeder is quite heavy, not flimsy at all, so it would take a super strong wind to move it enough for the seeds to spill. The only thing I'd change is the "S" hook that it hangs with....you will need to provide a second S hook that is much larger to fit most poles for hanging it. I just hooked a very large S hook right to the one that the feeder comes with so I could hang it from my pole. This feeder arrived very quickly, packaged like you wouldn't believe...will not arrive smashed or broken.

First, let me say that I love, love, love the JCs Wildlife Company! They have superb customer service, the best prices on seed cylinders when bought in multiples, always free shipping, and the orders often come the following day. I have other feeders made by them that I like. I hesitated to write this review, because I do not want to hurt their business in any way. That said, this feeder did not work for me. I bought it to hang in a tree far out in my back yard to keep the squirrels away from my deck bird feeders, and it did serve that purpose. I chose it initially because I liked the easy-to-remove center tray with the handle, which is a great idea and which no other platform feeders have. However, I learned a valuable (and expensive) lesson that squirrels and plastic are not a good combination. If the tray were metal, it might work better, but the squirrels chewed the crap out of the edges of the tray. (You can buy a replacement tray from JCs for $16.) Also, since there is a bit of space between the ledges on the bottom of the feeder that hold the tray and the tray itself, seed falls in around and underneath the tray, and when it rains, it becomes a moldy, gummy mess. I also made the mistake of using a wildlife mix that had alfalfa pellets in it, which partially dissolved in the rain and clogged up the drain holes on the bottom of the tray, and icky sheets of the glunk had to be scraped off the tray. I was going to take pictures but couldn’t stand to look at it any longer. I also concur that the S hook is too small, though that is easily solved by connecting it to a larger hook. This might work great for just bird seed and bird feeding if it were away from squirrels or contained squirrel-repellent foods (red pepper or safflower).

The cardinals really like this feeder. I have many species of wild birds that now come and sit in the feeder to eat. Easy to remove, clean, and refill. Highly recommend this bird feeder.

These wildlife feeders are exceptionally well made, sturdy, and really easy to keep clean. I wouldn't use anything else - I am now spoiled!
