Stitched Mixed Media

Its Dec. 1st and Amazon just delivered this terrific book on its release date. I perused it cover to cover and feel energized to spend the evening sewing a box of my found objects together. Highlights for me: vibrant art that practically jumps off the page; photos that show the details so I can easily see where each each element begins and ends; a wide range of media so anyone with a needle and thread can make something; and new takes on tried-and-true techniques. I have made mixed media art for decades and really appreciate this artist's upbeat and dimensional style. This is the kind of book that any experience level can enjoy, some for the basics, others for the extra spark of motivation. This would be a fun gift book to bundle with a bag of scraps & fibers for someone interested in trying out collage or assemblage on an affordable scale.

A small book packed full of fresh ideas! I loved it for all the little ZINGS of creativity packed into every page. The book itself is made of high quality paper, with bright colors, and perfect print size—such a joy to use! . It’s even just the right size to drop into my purse to keep me happy when I have to sit and wait for an appointment to begin! ( I’m not new to textile arts so greatly appreciate this refreshing approach to “ simple” needle and thread work. )

Meh! A beading company recommended this book and publishes many videos of the author creating art. I just can't get into these. Not that beautiful

I didn't find this book particularly helpful. I expected more challenging suggestions. It seems to be geared toward a younger audience.
