Preface: Due to the requirement for a 12 V 2 A adaptor, based on the other reviews here, I ordered this adaptor. Received the adaptor without any defects. The packing was adequate. Most adaptors rated for 2 A won't give exact 2 A when loaded. They will give approximate 1.8 A or 1.9 A after which if we loaded them further(say 1.95 or 2 A) they will shutdown since their internal current limits are less than 2 A. When we load such an SMPS/adaptor with 2 A or 2.1 A load, they will shutdown and turn on repeatedly without providing a steady output. -------------------------- Why does it matter? -------------------- Many gadgets that require a 12 V 2 A adaptor may have higher inrush or transient currents at the starting. (say 2.1 or 2.2 A at the moment of switched on). For such gadgets/devices, they need an adaptor that can withstand the initial transient conditions of higher than 1.9 A current. So I measured the voltages and currents of this adaptor after connecting a PWM controlled motor load(12 V,755 Motor) and analysed at what current this adaptor shuts down. Measurements: --------------- I measured the voltage of the adaptor and found it to be : 12.237 V DC I measured the currents for the load test and found that the adaptor can deliver up to 2.6 A of current before shutting down.(Check the photo of graphs taken from load test. It shuts down at 2.6 A) --------------------------- The length of adaptor is : 90 MM Width : 55 MM Height : 30 MM Length of cable : 930 MM Diameters of DC jacks : 5 MM and 3.5 MM -------------------- So this adaptor can supply currents up to 2.6 A without shutting down, and hence can be used for 2 A gadgets without any issues. The build quality seems OK (I haven't checked the internal PCB). The output capacitor seems large enough to mitigate any fluctuations in the output voltage. When powered on, the green led will light up. There is no whining sound from the adaptor when it is loaded, so the buck converter inside it seems to be of good quality materials/design. ------------------------- Some adaptors have capacitors on the "input side" which will hold some charge even when we disconnect from the Supply mains. These will cause slight shock hazards if we touch the pins after disconnecting from the mains. This adaptor doesn't have any such issues. They also provides a DC female jack with terminal block for connecting wires. (for 5 MM diameter jack) ----------------------------- Verdict --------- I cannot give any assurances on the durability of the adaptor as I have just used this adaptor for a day. Pertaining to the ratings, I can assure that the voltage and current ratings are as same as the specified one. Overall, the adaptor seems to be a good value for money since the actual ratings are similar to the specified ones.
