Yes, it's actually better than a normal claw clip! I have worn lots of different claw clips throughout my life and these definitely feel more secure and do not poke the back of your head as much. They hold my entire head of long, thick, curly hair and look polished. I wasn't sure they would be all that different from the basic claw clips, but these are a definite upgrade!

I’m not really a hair-up kinda girl but it is so freaking hot and humid this summer and I needed something to easily put my hair up. I have a lot of very thick hair and clips tend not to be able to hold it. These are perfect! They are super easy to use, hold my hair in place easily without any tugging or pain on my scalp. Very comfortable to wear for long periods of time and look really cute in. They don’t pull out my hair when putting them in or taking them out. I do think if my hair were any longer I’d need a bigger size.

Of course it works great, very strong, and is the perfect large size for my hair that has outgrown the usual sizes. However, what really sets these apart is how gorgeous the finish of the material is! There are other generic acrylic ones you can find on amazon for a cheaper price, but they all have that cheap glossy finish. These have a soft matte finish and even the spring is a matte black color, rather than the typical silver or gold. The handles to open the clip are a bit small and angled out widely which make it a little harder to open, so I wouldn't recommend it for someone who has weakness in the hands/fingers or even long nails. Overall, I would say it really stands out for the attention to detail and how beautiful it looks, but is a little more difficult to use.

I ordered these clips in October (4 months ago) and have been using them daily, alternating between the two. They are big, have a nice matte finish and hold thick hair really well. Sadly the springs on both of them broke within the last 2 weeks so the durability doesn't seem as great as I initially thought. Maybe they would last longer if they weren't being used daily.
