Professional grade performance – easier to set up than you might think!
I’m extremely satisfied with this MikroTik router. It is a truly high-professional piece of hardware that offers stability and features usually found only in much more expensive enterprise gear. I know many reviews warn about the steep learning curve of RouterOS, but I want to highlight that it’s not nearly as difficult as some people describe. In the age of AI assistants, configuring this device has become straightforward. With a guidance from AI, you can unlock its full potential without being a certified network engineer. Pros: - Rock-solid stability: Once it’s set up, you can practically forget it exists. - Professional features: Complete control over every aspect of your network. - Great value: Enterprise-level performance at a consumer-friendly price. Cons: - Functional but Dated UI: The management interface (WinBox) is incredibly powerful but looks very old-school. It’s built for efficiency, not aesthetics. - Limited "Out-of-the-box" Ecosystem: If you’re used to consumer routers with sleek mobile apps and one-click parental controls, you’ll find MikroTik a bit "spartan." You have to manually configure features that other brands might automate. If you want a "set it and forget it" device that doesn't compromise on power, don't let the old "too complex" complaints scare you off. Highly recommended!

Sophisticated router/AP to replace ISP routers
This is an excellent product with features you will not find anywhere else. It has some limitations, e.g., only 5 wired ports, and its 5GHz support is a little unreliable. It could be due to the other devices not being up to spec. But the 2GHz radio worked well with my doorbell and TV. It also supports Wireguard VPN. I was able to set up a site to site connection to the office mikrotik we have. With the freely available Winbox management software, the gazillion settings are relatively easy to configure. Note that there is a learning curve for all mikrotik products, much more so than any other consumer level device in this category. You can get the basics up and running without knowing much, but to take advantage of the product fully, you will need to do some studying. There are several excellent tutorials on the Internet video channels as well as extensive online documentation. For a sophisticated home user, this device can replace your ISP router with a robust firewall and decent Wifi coverage and a VPN server or client to connect from the road or to the office. It can do it all.

The unbeatable router in every respect.
This is the best router you can buy! Of course, it's not plug and play, and you have to figure out the settings, but you can only get this kind of reliability, hardware power, and flexibility in industrial routers that cost thousands of dollars. This is a router from the "set it and forget it" series, unless you need to change any of the million settings. You can do literally anything with it. The best hardware purchase!

WOW!
i've been in IT for basically my entire life, so i'm no stranger to configuring routers and switches and putting together a network, using iptables/nftables, working with vlans, making ethernet cables by hand etc. i've done it all and i do it all every day for a living. at home i've used various netgear switches flashed with dd-wrt (which is AWFUL) or openwrt (which is pretty decent with good hardware support) but this upgrade cycle i decided that i didn't want to have to flash whatever i got to make it good and something with super good, bleeding edge software so i got something with a good operating system preinstalled for me and from a brand that i heard lots of good things about from friends and colleagues. that was a GOOD CHOICE, HOLY HECK. this thing is unreal in how fast and configurable it is. it's SO EASY to configure this thing, even over ssh! winbox too, while looking pretty dated, gets the job DONE. this router is jam-packed with features that are all presented in a dense but highly functional manner and once you get the hang of how things work, it flat performs. definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you've got any kind of networking experience it's a dream to work with. i was able to configure this router and have it swapped with my old one in like 30 minutes with no hiccups, even with swapping the internet port from 1 to 5 so i could use the poe and 2.5gbe for stuff inside my network. in short: home router with good hardware coupled to a powerful operating system out of the box, no flashing required. gobs of documentation online. definitely going to get more mikrotik stuff for my network in the future.

Great for MikroTik folks
You have to be semi-technical when using MikroTik.

Jam-packed, powerful, and fun - Mikrotik has done it again!
Mikrotik is so incredibly underrated - it's a shame. I've used Ubiquiti, TP Link, and several other brands, but always find a way back to Mikrotik. Disclaimer, it is NOT for everyone and those looking for a simple plug-and-play should probably look elsewhere. That said, if you are a power user, someone who enjoys the networking rabbit hole, or a SMB, this is a great device. Mikrotik gives you access to the same powerful software at different hardware entry points and I've probably learned more from the Mikrotik devices than any other networking book or course. There's definitely a learning curve, but it's an incredibly reliable device that is rich with features and functionality. Finally, referring to this specific product, the WiFi coverage is great, provides strong signal, and can easily handle a large number of both active, high-bandwidth clients + passive/IoT devices

Have had it up and running a couple weeks now with no issues. Purchased to add to my network and give me more control over access, firewall rules, traffic monitoring. Very configurable. Simple setup out of the box works ok, but for the rest of the settings if you are not into networking and know what they do, this might be a bit overwhelming to you.

Excellent product probably - but don't buy it from Al-Mahara in UAE. Place a hAP ac3 in the box, not an ax3 - now too late to return.

I am a network admin in a medium business with about 10 location/buildings. The main location has a CCR2004, all other locations have an AX3, everything is connected with tunnels (VPNs), dynamic routing, etc. The AX3 has a good ipsec performance, in my case about 150mbps for a GRE tunnel with ipsec AES256 and a load of firewall rules (around 50 rules) I strongly recommend to follow a Mikrotik course, get MTCNA certified, you would trully be able to unleash the full potential of the router AND find a new job after, working with mikrotiks is far more interesting than say Cisco. Since they are more affordable, you will be the hero of the day that can resolve complex problems and needs with mere 200$, while comparable Cisco/Meraki/Watchguard crap cost 10 times more + subcription !!! nuts
