Carving Tools

You can always depend on Flexcut arriving VERY sharp and if you strop every 20 -30 min. you can retain that sharpness. That time of course depends upon wood hardness too. The handles are always designed with ergonomics in mind and they feel very comfortable. I think you'll enjoy the quality of these tools. Recommended

They arrived quickly and have proven to be sharp and I was glad they offered the 4 pack with 4 various size parting tools or V tools. A previous set of carving tools I bought had multiple size U-guage tools but not any V shaped so found out pretty quickly I needed the U-guage and they work very well.

I started carving a little over 1.5 years ago, when I retired. I bought a Flexcut knife starter kit, later a Flexcut gouge starter kit, and still later this kit. When carving, I now start with my gouges, then move to my knives and this little set. I just finished carving a piece that has taken about 92 hours to finish, and I would say this set was used in 75% of it, because it it so detailed. The smallest chisel, I rarely use, but the other three see significant use daily. I would not trade these for any other tool. I strop them before use, and usually only have to re-strop after about 4 hours of carving with them (so far carving in basswood, aspen, and poplar. I imagine some oak would dull them a bit faster). You will need to develop some finger strength and endurance. The handles are small, but not too bad - I tend to now grip these with my right fingers, and guide with my left hand forefinger. Great tools for fine work, except for the smallest one. I rarely use it, as it tends to tear the wood. I use the detail knife from the Flexcut kit I bought instead of it, if I need something that fine. I have since finished the carving pictured, but all the detail in this was done with this set.

I use these for lino cutting, so comments are in that context. The tools fit the hand nicely enough and are sharp enough. This selection of blades was not the best for the intended purchase - I followed up with the 'deep-U' set and it is better suited. Most of these blades dive into the lino and make it tricky to get an even cut- you have to keep the blade angle really low to achieve one. Most of these tips are not suited to lino- except the single U included, which is why the other set is considerably better. Even then the metal tip is too flexible in my opinion, making control more difficult, and is the reason I dropped a star in the rating. So, not bad, but not fantastic.

Fine product and very sharp out of the box

Great tools for relief carving below your main focus. To help add depth perception. Flexcut makes good tools. I wouldn't hesitate to buy more. Maybe their Power Gouge set too. With a handle

I paid $48 for the set. These little chisels are intended for wood carving, but they are also great for small-scale woodworking, like cleaning up small dovetails and such, which is what I use them for. Like all flexcut tools they come razor sharp and are well made. They are intended for "hand powered" use only, not for hitting with a mallet. If you do that, they will break. I don't like the lacquer on the handles very much, so I sand them before first use. I don't think that there is anything that has this level of quality at this price, and they are US made, so you can't go wrong with these.

Las gubias son espectaculares; traen filo de fábrica como para comenzar a utilizarlas apenas abrir el paquete. No son baratas pero tampoco carísimas como unas Schaaf o Dos cerezas y tienen un desempeño similar. Si piensas en trabajar de manera profesional con herramientas de calidad sin querer invertir una cantidad enorme de dinero, esta es una muy buena compra.
