Village Green Ready to Use Wood Stain - Water Based, Eco Friendly, Premium Quality (Ebony, 5L)

I used this to tidy up minor scratches on a writing bureau that I had bought from a charity shop. Used it sparingly with a cotton wool pad and the results are amazing.

Great results on my kitchen table - I sanded it first then just painted on the stain. 2 coats for a big table super!

I used it to stain the Maple veneer on top of my home built guitar. I did expect the water based wood dyes to be kinda thin and watery, duh, 'water based!' But i was drawn by the idea of faster easier cleaner smell free application. But, this white colour is Very transparent and needed lots of coats before it would build up. Nowhere near how I pictured it. Why oh why didn't I use solvent based! You live and learn, me old Mum used to say.

Pouring it onto a cloth in every which way possible, trying to prevent a leak - not happening. The results are great when applied to wood and a little goes a long way, but the leak is so wasteful

For my particular application it wasn’t very successful. I was just trying to touch in some wood scuffs in our caravan. Tried to build up the layers but it did not cover properly. It could be just my fault on this type of wood, or because it’s water based. It might work better over a larger area. Good range of colours though and reasonably priced.

Goes a long way.
