Since I developed an interest in the subject myself I have sought to find a book that details the information in such a way for easer to comprehension. The authors have taken the time to dissect the reams of information and delivered it to us in a format that allows for better understanding of the subject. In fact it was this book that in the mid nineties provoked me and my friend to write a simple book on N L P My Little Book of N L P - Neuro Linguistic Programming to give a brief taster on the subject. My only regret was not remembering to name Introduction to N L P in the resource section. You will benefit - Great read Review: a great introduction to NLP - This book does exactly what is say on the cover: introducing you to Neuro-Linguistic Programming. i am quite a visual learner and was disappointed by not seeing many pictures in it but i found that the authors have excelled at making the techniques accessible to all. I have read the book in about 4/5 hours and have made notes along the way of techniques to use in my own life. Just a week in, I can already see changes in myself and the way I deal with others. The only reproach I would make to the book is that it is packed with a lot of information and that ALL the techniques look interesting. I feel that as a reader I did not have enought time to take them in and try them before moving to another aspect of NLP: pace was too fast (hence the note taking in my journal). I have also purchased NLP workbook by O'Connor (on of the author of Introducing NLP programming) and I like the fact that it has "guided" exercises, on the other hand i found its pace a little too slow for a book for my liking but great for a seminar. i would thoroughly recommend this book to start NLP but you may need to combine it with a more practical guide for excellent results.

When you read this
Just relax. Now. As you sit there reading reviews. Imagine what life would be like without this book. Imagine the positive energy that you feel when you learn and act on new things.... Actually, this is probably the best starting book for NLP. I loaned my original copy out and never got it back or saw them again. I would recommend reading Patterns of the Techniques of Milton H Erickson after getting a grounding in the concepts from this book.

Good read
I just started the book and find it very interesting. I know it's not an exactly new formula anymore plus it's considered by the academic world as pseudo science now. However, I think that the book contains very useful and practical ideas. Many thanks.

Informative but a bit dry
John Seymour and Joseph O'Connor have succeeded in writing an introductory book to help familiarise those new to NLP to the territory. After an introduction explaining what NLP is about-essentially modelling how peak performers achieve excellence and what their experience of the world is-the authors give a chapter on several core ideas. These include the senses, states of mind, systems, language, negotiation, therapy, and modelling. Of course each topic in itself needs much more space than one or two chapters, but the authors do a good job at summarising and explaining the information, while also including some practical exercises to try out. Although this book can be commended on the way it covers a lot of ground and explains the main concepts well, I think it is lacking in presentation. I felt like a lot of the book was rather dry and had a scholarly tone that almost detracted from its value as a personal development book. But I think that clarity of communication in this book still makes it a worthwhile read and very valuable for anyone getting into NLP.

Excellent introduction to NLP
Really enjoying this book its well written and very easy to understand. It is fascinating how much of an insight you can get into peoples thoughts and states of mind. Would recommend this to anyone thinking of studying this or just interested in the subject.

This book is pretty good and quite interesting. I still have not finished the book, but will eventually (I am a slow reader). It was pretty easy to get through about the first half....very easy to understand and very interesting subject matter. It is valuable to understand yourself better as well as understanding those around you better. Amazon has great deals on this book and you should be able to pick it up pretty cheap....especially in soft cover. There is a new version of this book now: Introducing NLP: Psychological Skills for Understanding and Influencing People ....not sure how much more info is in it, but the theories would all be the same.
